He grew up in the Spink area and attended North Spink grade school and Alcester High School, graduating in 1964. Alan served in the US Air Force and was in Vietnam. Following his honorable discharge he returned to South Dakota and worked a variety of jobs. Grateful for sharing his life is his mother, Evelyn Abraham of Garretson, SD; sister, Karen (Steve) Bonte of Garretson, SD; brother, Jeff Abraham of Moore, OK; daughter, Kim Dimmic, two grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

David Roy will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery under direction of the Schroeder funeral home, Akron. A prayer service will be held at 7:30pm Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Swanson was born May 14, 1872, in Sweden. He came to the United States in 1892, settling in Chicago. He married Amanda San Jan. 26, 1901 in Chicago. She died in 1946. Mr. Swanson worked for a Chicago lumber company for several years before moving to Akron in 1908. He remained active in farming until recently. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Albin Carlson of Alcester, S. D. and Mrs. Lloyd Buum of Akron; four sons, Stanley of Alcester, Arthur of Sioux City, Herbert and Leonard, both of Akron, 12 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.1

She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and the Happy Hour Club, both at Wheaton, and the National Education Association. urvivors include her husband John C. Ellis, to whom she was married October 12, 1944; two daughters, Betty Ellis, Onaga, and Mrs. Rosemary Randel, Fort Jackson, S. C; four sons, Richard and Charles Ellis, both of Topeka, Jerome Ellis, at home; and Tom Ellis, at home; her mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Silvis, Sioux Falls, S. D; and three brothers, Bob Silvis and Joe Silvis both of Sioux Falls, S. D., and Jim Silvis, Saugus, California.
