He was born on July 16, 1921 at St. Joseph?s Hospital in Dodgeville to William and Winifred (Rowan) Michels. After graduating from Spring Green High School, Bill attended the University of Wisconsin ? Madison. He then returned to Wyoming Valley to work on the Michels family farm. He married Eleanore Meudt on October 6, 1945 and they made their home on the farm. Bill was a dairy farmer, but his pride and joy was his herd of Red Angus beef. Bill?s hobby was raising and training Suffolk draft horses. He showed his team of Suffolks at the Iowa County Fair and traveled to many area parades. In addition, Bill drove the team, pulling a surrey for tours of Taliesin. He was politically active and served on the local school board, the Wyoming Township Board and the Iowa County Board. He was a member of St. John?s Catholic Church in Spring Green and was also a member of Pleasant Ridge SS. Peter and Paul Preservation, Inc. He is survived by a sister, Mary (Frank) Campbell of Richfield, Minnesota; three sisters-in-law, Jean Michels of Waunakee, Margaret Wiest of Dodgeville, and Leone Jacobson of Lake San Marcos, California; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanore; his parents, William and Winifred; two brothers, John and Edward; and three sisters, Sadie Neuville, Leona Schauf and Winifred Carnes. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Sunday, September 30th, at 12:30 p.m. at ST. JOHN?S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Spring Green. Father Mike Resop will officiate with burial in the SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery at Pleasant Ridge at 3:00 P.M.. Visitation will be held on Sunday at the church from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. The Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home, Spring Green, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

He was born on Oct. 31, 1919, to John A. and Louisa (Reider) Wiest. On June 24, 1944, he married Margaret Meudt. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past summer. John grew up and farmed on the Wiest Century Farm in the Pleasant Ridge community. He was very proud to farm the land that has been in the Wiest family since 1868. Dairy farming was his life, and John enjoyed caring for the animals and working the soil along his lifelong partner, Margaret. They moved to Dodgeville in 1985, where they continued working a large garden. John was always a good neighbor and ready to help anyone, friend or stranger. He will be remembered for the home movies he filmed, the many 4th of July celebrations and chicken barbecues. John would use any excuse to have a party. He enjoyed playing the accordion and harmonica, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, and telling a good story. John especially enjoyed visiting with friends and family, spending time and playing games with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Dodgeville. He was also a charter member and a former board member of Pleasant Ridge Ss. Peter & Paul Preservation, Inc. John is survived by his wife, Margaret; his seven children, Mary Ann (Lyle) Antonson of Dodgeville, John F. of Pleasant Ridge, Daniel (Kathy) of Aurora, Ill., Laurie (James) Goldthorpe of Mineral Point, Larry of Green Bay, Jeanne (Ted) Meister of Dodgeville, and Joe (Becky) of Kalamazoo, Mich; his grandchildren, Eric (Juli) Antonson, Kim (Mike Dion) Antonson, Kris (Paul) Nelson, Alan (Katie) Antonson, Jennifer Wiest, Lisa (Nick Matinelli) Wiest, Daniel Wiest, Matthew Wiest, Jeanne Goldthorpe, Jay (Lisa) Goldthorpe, Justin Goldthorpe, Kyra Wiest, Adam Wiest, Kevin Meister, Brent Meister, Christina Meister, Emily Wiest, Hannah Wiest, and Jackson Wiest; his four great-grandchildren, Natalie and Rachel Antonson, Joseph Nelson, and Ahnna Antonson; his siblings, a sister, Leone Shea; and a brother, Alfred Wiest; his sister in law and brother-in-law, Eleanore and Bill Michels, sister-in-law, Leona Jacobson; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joseph and Leonard Wiest; and two sisters, Helen Yager and Grace Robson. Mary Margaret was born June 30, 1920 to George and Margaret (nee: Lins) Wiest in Plain, WI. On September 8, 1934 she joined the Racine Dominicans and at her reception in 1936 she was given the religious name Sister Hildegarde. She professed her first vows in 1938 and her final vows in 1944. In 1968 she returned to using her baptismal name Mary. Sister Mary spent many years in service to others in education as a teacher, principal and Adult Learning Program Director and tutor. She began her ministry in 1938 at Holy Name, Racine, WI. Other places in Wisconsin where she served were St. Victor, Monroe; Sacred Heart and St. Edward, Racine; St. Mary, Mineral Point; St. Andrew, Verona; St. Mary, Pewaukee; St. Peter, East Troy; and St. Mary, Kansasville. She also served in Michigan. After moving to Siena Center she served as a Liturgy Coordinator and as the Director and tutor in the Adult Learning Program. She became a resident at Lakeshore Manor in January, 2008. Sister Mary is survived by the Racine Dominican Sisters and Associates; her sister Rita Vielhuber; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers Raymond Wiest, Cletus Wiest and Father Donald Wiest, OFM Cap; her sister Lucy McDonald and infant sister Celia Wiest. Visitation will be in the Siena Center Chapel on Wednesday August 25, beginning at 9:30 a.m. with a Remembering Service at 2:30 p.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 4:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery Hwy 32. Memorials to the Racine Dominican Mission Fund have been suggested. The Racine Dominicans would like to extend their thanks to the staff who
cared for Sister Mary at Lakeshore Manor.
