Life EventDateDescription
Birth22 August 1932Charles G. Jacoby was born on 22 August 1932.
He was the son of Earl Joseph Jacoby and Lorna Elizabeth Milner.
Death26 April 2018Charles G. Jacoby died on 26 April 2018 at age 85 Charles (Chuck) Jacoby, was born in 1932 and lived in Helena, MT most of his life. He attended St. Helena Grade School and Cathedral High School before attending Montana State College (now Montana State University) majoring in Architectural Engineering and, later, graduating from the University of Montana in Business Accounting. The rest of his life he was an avid Griz fan.

He worked with his father in the family business (Jacoby’s Store for Men) and later became owner-manager. Many people appreciated his attention to detail, outstanding customer service and high quality professional clothing. His ability to pick out a person’s size without measuring was amazing. Among his distinguished clients were a high percentage of our regional law enforcement officers who he supplied with uniforms. He was active in the Downtown Merchants Association, and Business Manager of the Tour Train. This continued until his retirement in 1985.

He served on the Board of Directors at American Federal Savings & Loan (now Opportunity Bank), a position he held for 28 years, retiring as vice chairman.

An only child, his parents/grandparents encouraged him with hobbies. These were developed throughout his life, including: radio control model plane & boat building, steam engine building, lathe metal & wood machining, cabinetry, photography, clock building and listening to classical music. He was a published author with articles in Fine Woodworking and Stereo Review magazines and was invited to the Smithsonian for his work with model building. Throughout Helena and Montana, he had many friends.

He was a talented golfer, playing for the University of Montana. As his love of golfing was distracted with a family, he then migrated to boating at the Gates of the Mountains which the entire family enjoyed with him over the years.

During college, he dated Rosemary Sloan and they were married for almost 65 years. Together they raised four children and enjoyed taking country drives, photography, traveling, boating and their many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Duke & Lorna Jacoby and Danny Butler (grandson). He is survived by the love of his life, Rosemary and their children and spouses: Mark Jacoby (Kristie), Lynn Butler (Don), Marla Jacoby-Mousseau (Paul), and Meg Jacoby (Bob White). Grandchildren include: Matt, Amy, David (& Kaity), Alex (Diana), Kenzie (Jimmy) & Katherine (Dale), Ashley (Abdiel), Tevin, Mariah, Alyssa and Carly. Great-grandchildren include: Gracie, Brandon, Leliana, Hannah, Kambria, Kannon, Clark, and Quinn.

A funeral Mass will be held 12:00 p.m., Thursday, May 3rd, at Cathedral of Saint Helena, 530 N Ewing St.

Birth5 July 1867Clara H. Maupin was born on 5 July 1867 at Peoria, Illinois.
She was the daughter of Robert Harris Maupin and Sarah M. Wyckoff.
Marriage9 July 1882Clara H. Maupin married Myron L. Hutchins on 9 July 1882.
Death1 August 1937Clara H. Maupin died on 1 August 1937 at Pittsville, Wood, Wisconsin, at age 70 Pittsville — Mrs. Clara Hutchins, 70, who was well known here for many years as an active church worker, died at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon at her home as the result of a heart attack. She had been confined to her bed only several days before her death.
Mrs. Hutchins, nee Clara Maupin, was born in Peoria, Ill., on July 5, 1867, and resided there until 1870 when she moved with her parents to Boscobel. In 1878 the family moved to Stevens Point where she married Myron L. Hutchins on July 9, 1882. In 1907 Mr. and Mrs. Hutchins moved to this city.
Mrs. Hutchins' career as a church worker began here soon after she arrived. She began to teach a Sunday school class in the Congregational church in October of 1907, and was appointed to fill the vacancy left by the superintendent later that month. The next year she was elected superintendent, and continued to serve in that capacity for 13 years. For the past six years she served as assistant-superintendent as her age advanced.
For 18 years she served as church organist, and also organized the first young people's class in the church. In 1916 she organized a young men's class which she taught until her death. It was the latter class of which she spoke in an obituary, which she wrote herself shortly before her death, in which she stated:
"If I am teaching the class till the end, I would like boys from my class to act as pallbearers and to do the singing,— whether it be a quartet or solo, just so it is my boys." The hymns she chose for them to sing are "Sometime We'll Understand," "It Is Well With My Soul," and "God Be With You Till We Meet Again."
Mrs. Hutchins also chose the scripture reading for her funeral from the 14th chapter of the book of John, verses one to six, in elusive. The text of the funeral sermon, also chosen by herself, is "Be not afraid, only believe," Mark 5:36.
Surviving Mrs. Hutchins are two daughters, Mrs. Bessie Peart, La Crosse, and Mrs. Elvie Favell, Hammond, Ind., nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Foss. A son, Lester, died at the age of 10 months.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been made, pending word from Mrs. Peart, who is vacationing in California.
