DateLocationDescription
FREDERICK GADE , one of the earliest German settlers of southern Reedsburg, was a native of Hanover, Germany, where he married Dorothea SCHRODER; they, coming to Reedsburg in 1859, were the founders of the GADE family in this community. They located on a farm in the extreme south of the township, where they found a log house, evidence of an earlier inhabitant; but the dwelling was so crude that the family soon built a new house. On that farm the children were born, namely William, Louise, Matilda and Marie. William married Dorothea HIENE and occupied the home place which he still owns and latter being a daughter of Walter FISH of Winfield; Matilda GADE married which is now occupied by his son and wife, Walter and Edna (FISH) GADE, the William SOLTWEDEL, of Westfield. Louise GADE married Henry HARMS of Westfield, Henry being a son of Frederick HARMS.
Frederick HARMS, a German immigrant of about 1870, settled on a farm on the Westfield-Reedsburg boundary line. He was married in Germany to Louise BODENSTAB, and their five children, Henry, William, Dorothea, Frederick, and Catherine, were born there. Henry, who married Louise GADE, purchased his father's farm in later years, where he resided and which he still owns.
Henry and Louise (GADE) HARMS had eight children: Frederick married Martha HARTIG, and resided in Westfield; William married Elsie GOETSCH, a resident of north Westfield; Mary, wife of Walter GOETSCH, a farmer in the town of Washington; Henry married Amanda PETERS, and residing in the northwest corner of Washington; Dorothea, wife of Albert KOENECKE, a farmer on Babb's Prairie, town of Reedsburg; Ludwig married Emma ROEWER, living in Westfield, and on the HARMS farm; Ernest, married Loraine ZIMMERMAN, of Loganville, and resides in that village, and Lydia, wife of Paul MEYER of Westfield; they occupy the Fred MEYER, his father's homestead.

She was the daughter of Herman Anton Hutter and Mary Rose Volk.
Marriage1945Pauline Ann Hutter married Clement Herbert Ringelstetter, son of Michael Ringelstetter and Margaret Pfeiffer, in 1945.
Death1 October 2006Pauline Ann Hutter died on 1 October 2006 at age 87 Pauline Ann Ringelstetter joined the eternal parade of Saints on Sunday, October 1, 2006. She was born October 17, 1918. Her parents were Mary Volk Hutter and Herman Hutter. Pauline had one brother, Anthony, born in 1923 and one sister, Donna, born in 1940. In 1945 Pauline married Clem Ringelstetter and together they had seven children; twins, Judi and Joan, Nicholas, Richard, Rita, Ann and Carol. She has 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (1972), and her brother. Pauline was best known as the woman who raised the largest family in the smallest house in Plain; a fact that truly did build character in her children and gave all of them a passion for protecting those of lesser means and acting and speaking for social change and justice. Concern for others along with Pauline's wild and wacky sense of humor and her contagious laughter are her legacies to all of us. Good food, good friends and good music were very important in Pauline's life. She loved to dance and sing. If there was music, her feet were dancing or her hands were clapping and her toes were tapping. It was a habit of hers to sing little songs and jingles about everything in life. Her love of music was passed to her children and manifests itself in her grandchildren. One of her many favorite songs, was "When the Saints Go Marching In". To her family, friends and the people whose lives she touched through her work at Hall's Pharmacy and Cenex Gas Station, it is indeed evident that Pauline is marching with those Saints today. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2006, at 11 a.m. at ST LUKE'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Plain. Father Mike Resop will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2006, at ST. LUKE'S CATHOLIC CHURCH from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Celebration on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, please do what Pauline would do; smile at strangers, write a letter to a friend, do lunch, send a card to cheer someone, make welcome the new person in your community, get to know your neighbors and sing and dance "til the cows come home".
