She was born on July 9, 1921 in Hillpoint, WI the daughter of Silas and Hedwig (Brandt) Meyer. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hillpoint, WI. She attended Meyer School for 1st and 8th grade and St. Paul’s Parochial School for 2nd thru 7th grade. She graduated from Reedsburg High School in 1940. Viola married Rev. Gilmore Lueck of Almond, WI on July 16, 1941 at St. Paul’s Church, Hillpoint. Their first home was in Washington D.C. where her husband did mission work at Anacostia D.C. and Indian Head, MD. He later served congregations in Wheeler and Strasburg, IL. Viola was a 4-H leader and a member of homemakers. At church she was active in the choir, Ladies Aid, was a Sunday school teacher and was a charter member of LWML of LCMS. She moved to Reedsburg in 1959 upon the death of her husband. Here she did seamstress work and child care. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. She was also involved with the choir, taught Sunday school (for 50 yrs.), Ladies Aid and LWML. She volunteered at the Reedsburg Area Medical Center with 13,000 hours over the years. Viola had a pleasant, compassionate and positive personality which was therapy for the patients. She looked forward to church, bible class and visiting the nursing homes.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Valera Koch and brothers-in-law, Willard Koch, Robert Jensen and Elmer Schulz.

Funeral services for Viola Ella Lueck will be conducted on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Reedsburg, at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Paul Crolius officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at the Farber Funeral Home from 4 – 7:00 P.M. and again on Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at the church. Burial will take place in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hillpoint, WI.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; three children: Dean (Vicky) Baumgarten, of Loganville; Dan (Marianne) Baumgarten, of Reedsburg and Denise Baumgarten, of Reedsburg; five grandchildren: Jenny (John) Albers, Joel (Tiffany) Baumgarten, Jessica (Aaron) Bauer, Tara Baumgarten and Paul Baumgarten; six great-grandchildren; his sister: Doris (Phil) Fish, of Middleton; his sister-in-law: Mary Baumgarten, of Reedsburg; his uncle: Melvin Baumgarten, of Loganville; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son and two brothers: Marlin and Kenneth Baumgarten Sr. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Loganville with Pastor Donald Glanzer officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday at the Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg and after 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday at the church. Marlin was baptized on July 7, 1929 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Loganville by Pastor Frederick Schalkhauser. He was confirmed April 25, 1943 by Pastor Carl Stubenvoll.
Marlin served his country in the U. S. Army in the Korean Conflict during 1952-54 and was cited for heroism in the rescue of a wounded serviceman.
On August 7, 1954, Marlin was united in marriage to Mary E. Licht at St. Peter's in Loganville. The Lord blessed them with three daughters and a son.
He was an avid hunter, golfer, and a member of the Reedsburg Country Club. He enjoyed woodworking and helping his children. During the past months he waged a courageous battle with cancer. He died Dec. 23, 1992 at the Reedsburg Memorial Hospital.

Marlin is survived by his wife, Mary: three daughters, Vicky, Debra and Sheryl; one son Ronald; three grandchildren: Nickolas, Erin and Randy; two brother: Kenneth and Gordon (Shirley); one sister: Doris (Philip) Fish and his mother-in-law: Blanch Koenig.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Marlin.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 1996 at St. Peter's Lutheran Chrch in Loganville with Rev Ronald Rasmussen officiating. Interment was made in St. Peter's Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete, on January 11, 2001; her son-in-law: Reginald Smelcer; a great granddaughter: Marcelina; two sisters: LaVeta Burfiend and Emma Brandt; two brothers: Harold and Herman Erdmann. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hillpoint with Pastor Tim Anderson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. There will be a visitation from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Saturday at the Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg and after 12 noon on Sunday at the church.
