On July 21, 1946 he was married to Isabel Hanson in Beresford. The couple farmed in the Beresford area until 1957. In 1961 they moved into Beresford where Ernest worked for Ole Wevik and drove a school bus for the Beresford school system until 1972, at which time he went to work for the Beresford City as a dispatcher.
On October 30, 1975 he was married to Hazel Mohr. After their marriage he continued to work for the City of Beresford until November 1977 when illness forced his retirement. Ernest had been an active member of the Sons of Norway.
He was preceded in death by his father and one sister.
Among those who survive and who gratefully shared his live are his wife, Hazel of Beresford, his mother Mrs. Ida Wevik of Beresford, on son Ernest Wevik Jr. of Jefferson, three daughters, Iris (Mrs. Lynden Heiman) both of Sioux Falls, one step-daughter, Gloria (Mrs. Palmer Johnson)of Canistota and Delores (Mrs. Harold Cleveland) of Canton, two brother, Irving of Phoinex and Delmar of Chamberlain, six grandchildren and three steep-grandchildren.
