He was a dentist in private practice in Portland until his retirement in 1985. In 1946, he married Connie Cross; she died in 1977.

Survivors include his daughters, Cindy Kerber and Robin Folquet; sister, Renee Rowe; and one grandchild.

Interment is in Skyline Memorial Gardens. The family suggests remembrances to the Assistance League of Portland for the Portland Children's Dental Center. Arrangements are by Skyline Funeral Home.

(Steven) Peterson of Reedsburg; grandchildren, Michelle (Adrian), Stephen L., Chad (Anna), Kelly, Kurtis, Derek, Dustin, and Dylan; great-grandson, Brayden; brothers, Dwight "Fritz" (Judi) Cottington of St. Paul, Minn., Gerald (Shirley) Cowan of Spring Park, Minn., and Richard (Jeri) Cowan of Baraboo; aunts, Helen L. Ziech of Reedsburg, and Pearl Niebuhr of Reedsburg; and many other relatives and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; a son, Scott Muchow; her father, Dwight Cottington; and step-father, Frank Cowan.

Funeral services for Nina Muchow will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2003, at ST. JOHN EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH in Reedsburg with Dr. James Steinbrecher officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Reedsburg.

Melvin was born Aug. 28, 1926, the son of Irwin and Lydia (Ohland) Brandt in Hillpoint. He was united in marriage to Delores Muchow on May 20, 1948, at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Loganville.

Melvin was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army. He was a member of VFW Post 2336 and American Legion Post 26. Melvin farmed in the Hillpoint area for a number of years and later moved to Baraboo where he was district manager for Sears Roebuck and Company, employed by Sauk County as director of surplus commodities for 11 years and Sauk County treasurer as an elected official for 16 years.

He enjoyed his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, fishing at his pond and while vacationing up north, deer hunting, as well as watching the Brewers and Packers games.

He is survived by his children, Richard (Donna) Brandt of Osceola and Thomas (Lori) Brandt of Watertown; son-in-law, John Marquardt; eight grandchildren, Kristi (Rob) Heim, Kari (Ben) Thoma and Jenna Marquardt, Trisha Brandt and Tara (Trevor) Sheppard, Nathaniel (Jennifer) Brandt, Andrew (Rachel) Brandt and Whitney (Mitchell) Wiesshoff; 12 great-grandchildren, Lily and Carly Heim, Hunter and Paige Thoma, Amelia, Easton and Tegan Sheppard, Carter and Avalyn Brandt, Beckham and Finley Brandt, and Mila Wiesshoff; sisters-in-law, Estella Muchow, Myrtle Muchow, and Marcella (Arend) Harms; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores; daughter, JoNelle Marquardt; brother, Gerhardt (Verna) Brandt; his parents; infant brother; and infant sister; and infant great-grandson, Bennett Brandt.

Funeral services for Melvin will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2018, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Baraboo with Pastor Tim Kuske officiating. Visitation will be held at from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018, at Redlin Funeral Home and again from 10 a.m. until the time of service Friday at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in North Freedom where military rites will be conducted.

The family would like to thank Dr. Flygt, Meadow View Memory Center, and Agrace Hospice for their compassionate care for our Dad, Grandpa, and Great-Grandpa.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church.

The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

He was a lifelong and faithful member of St Peter's Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Reedsburg VFW and a former member of the Loganville Fire Dept. He enjoyed fishing, reading, sports, especially baseball and football as well as watching his grandchildren participate in their sports activities.

Survivors include his wife, Arleda; three children, Karen (Rollie) Schultz of Verona, Charles (Lauri) Muchow of Loganville and Diane (Dale) Fish of Reedsburg; six grandchildren, Angela (Adam) Hanson, Charli, Chelsey and Lucas Muchow, Jodi (Mike) McCarville and Jared Fish; two sisters, Elva (Ewald) Gluth of Loganvile and Marcella (Arend) Harms of Reedsburg; brothers and sisters-in-law, Estella Muchow of Hillpoint, Myrtle Muchow of Reedsburg, Melvin Brandt of Baraboo, Edmund Goetsch of Reedsburg, Wilbert (Delores) Harms of Reedsburg and Jerome (Rita) Harms of Reedsburg; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Elva was from a large farming family of nine and she always mentioned how she was the middle child of the group. On June 18, 1943, she married Ewald F. Gluth and they enjoyed over 70 years together. Elva together farmed with her husband in the Town of Westfield and was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Loganville. Elva was a member of the Lutheran League and Ladies Aide. Elva enjoyed gardening, baking and especially playing cards. Survivors include three children, Judith (Richard) Mohr of Hillpoint, Jimmie Gluth of Loganville and Joann (Neal) Brunner of Madison; five grandchildren, Matthew (Terri) Mohr, Michael (Carrie) Mohr, Kristen (Pete) Mason, Adam (Kaylan) DiPiazza and Jennifer (Julia) DiPiazza; 10 great grandchildren, Lucas, Amanda, Seren, Maisy, Morgan, Isabelle, Vivian, Frank, Calliope and Miette; one sister, Marcella (Arend) Harms of Reedsburg; two sister-in-laws, Myrtle Muchow of Reedsburg and Estella Muchow of Reedsburg; a brother-in-law, Melvin Brandt of Baraboo; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Dale was born July 15, 1952, in Reedsburg to the late Lawrence and Leona (Douglas) Fish. Following graduation from Webb High School in 1970, he was drafted into the U.S. Air Force.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and enjoyed singing in the choir.

Dale was employed by Wisconsin Dairies/Foremost Farms for over thirty years. He also worked at Lands’ End and Sauk Prairie Hospital. Nothing made Dale happier than working in his shop, tinkering with lawn mowers and other small engines. He loved to make people laugh. His favorite joke was “Air Italian,” which his family and friends heard many, many times. He loved music, dancing and playing the tambourine. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather until frontotemporal dementia took over his life.

In addition to his wife Diane of 44 years, Dale is survived by his daughter Jodi (Michael) McCarville of Reedsburg and his son Jared (fiancée Allyson) of Sun Prairie, and his grandsons; Jaxson, Colton and Connor, and an expected granddaughter coming this September. He is further survived by his brothers Michael (Mary) Fish, Patrick (Kelli) Fish, his sister Mary Lee Gullickson, sisters-in-law Marilyn Fish and Karen (Rollie) Schultz, brother-in-law Charles (Lauri) Muchow, an aunt and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers; Lawrence, Raymond and Kenneth, and his in-laws Gilbert and Arleda Muchow.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Dale on Friday, May 19, 2023 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Reedsburg. Reverend Patrick Wendler and Reverend Thomas Monaghan will con-celebrate. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 4:00 pm until 6:30 pm at Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg, and at the church on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Burial will follow services with military rites at St. Peter Cemetery in Loganville.

Survivors include two children: Gerald (Shirley) Cowan, of Spring Park, MN and Richard (Shannon) Cowan, of Baraboo; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her daughter: Nina Muchow; her son: Dwight Cottington; two grandchildren: Scott Muchow and Becky O'Rourke; her sister: Helen Ziech and her brother: Albert Ziech. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 A.M. on Monday, April 18, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Reedsburg with Deacon Tom Hale officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service on Monday at the church. The Hoof Funeral Home is serving the family.
