Leland served with the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 to 1947. He married Arlene Weiss on Oct. 12, 1953, in Loganville, Wis. Leland and Arlene moved to Wisconsin where he farmed for many years in the Loganville and Reedsburg areas.

After retirement, they moved to the La Crosse area. Leland loved animals: the horses on his farm and the birds, squirrels and rabbits in his backyard. He was a loving husband, father and grand- father who enjoyed being with family. He is survived by his wife, Arlene of Holmen; two children, Charlie (Betty) Crocker of Coloma, and Patty (Dave Schulze) Burch of Holmen; seven grandchildren, Kenny (Darcy) Crocker, Jason (Heather) Crocker, Crocker, Charles Shawn 30063083mh (Kristie) Crocker Hollie (Brad) Radloff, Joe Crocker and Shawna Davenport; 21 great -grandchildren; three great- -great -grandchildren; and plenty of adopted grandkids. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie; a son, Clarence; four brothers; and two sisters.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park. The Rev. Cheryl Gross will officiate. Schumacher- Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, at 11 a.m. at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH, Elroy, with the Rev. William Wrieden officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Eden Cemetery, Wonewoc. Friends may call on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church.

Mrs. Bentz was an employee at Oaks Manufacturing for 13 years, retiring in 1974; member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Over 50 Club, Senior Citizens and Mothers Club. Surviving besides his widow and the two daughters mentioned, Carol Keller and Shirley Carey, are a third daughter, Linda of Woodstock and two sons, Eldon and Dale, Woodstock; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Leona Price, Elroy, and Mrs. Louise Feldman, Janesville, and a brother, Ed Bentz, Waupun, Wis. The Rev. Raymond C. Shawl officiated when services were held in Grace Lutheran church of Woodstock, and burial was in McHenry County Memorial park.

He was born near Rushford July 1, 1879, and in 1914 he married the former Edna Buege, Wilson. She died in 1918 and in 1920 he married Mrs. Dorthea Malone who died five years ago.

He is survived by two sons, Elmer, Lewiston and Edward, Rochester; a step-son, Lawrence Malone, Rochester; two brothers, John, Fountain City, Wis., and Julius, Witoka, and a sister, Mrs. Jonas (Lena) Niggle, Rushford. Also surviving are five grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ellison funeral home and at 2:15 p.m. at the St. John's Lutheran church, the Rev. R. P. Korn officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home until the time of the services.
