He grew up in Olivia and graduated from Olivia High School. Bob joined the Army in 1945 and was stationed in Germany attaining the rank of Sergeant. Upon returning home he continued his studies at Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis for electrical training. Robert Bunker married Edna Uthe on September 25, 1954 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bird Island. He worked for the Renville County Highway Department for 43 years. Bob was a member of the American Legion, Lions Club and was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He had a true passion for fishing, boating and woodworking. Bob truly cherished time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Bob is survived by his wife, Edna Bunker of Bird Island; his three children: William, Bruce and Lynn, his seven grandchildren, his seven great-grandchildren, his brother Roger; and numerous friends and fishing buddies. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his three siblings: Virginia Brandt, Scott Bunker and Mamie Berry.

He served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1953.. On May 26, 1951, Jim was united in marriage to Adeline Rose Uthe at St. Mary's Catholic Church. To this union four children were born, namely, Kent, Tom, Paula and Jamie. Jim drove truck delivering culverts for a few years, and then worked at the grain elevator in Bird Island. He went to work for the Peavey Elevator in New Ulm and then to the Peavey Elevator in Ghent which he eventually purchased. The love of his life was doing and being with his family. His enjoyments were coin collecting, raising Boston Terriers, stock car racing, playing cards and singing at various events. He was a faithful member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, the Resurrection Choir and the Knights of Columbus. He also was a member of the Ghent American Legion. Helen was born on July 13, 1925 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of George B. and Jetta Dove Howard Haxel. She married Garner B. Kasparie on January 11, 1947 in Madison Park Christian Church. He preceded her in death on March 30, 1976. Helen was a 1942 graduate of Quincy High School and a graduate of Gem City Business College. She was employed at the Moorman Manufacturing Company from 1942 to 1946, and she then served as a cashier for CIPS from 1946 to 1947. Helen’s greatest joy was being a wife, mother and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and baking many recipes from scratch with a favorite being her red velvet cake. She was also known as the “Cream Puff Lady” for her delicious cream puffs. For many years, Helen and Garner raised a big garden. She prepared and canned many vegetables and fruits from their fruit trees every year so that the family would have food all year long. She loved being outdoors. She raised baby chicks and bunnies and everyone enjoyed coming to visit and getting fresh baked cookies. She enjoyed the beauty of flowers and butterflies and feeding the birds so she would hear their sweet songs. She loved sewing and quilting and putting puzzles together, working word search puzzles and playing cards and bingo. Helen had many garages sales at her former home, at 28th & Harrison, and enjoyed all of the people that would come and visit with her. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano, attending church concerts, park band concerts and listening to Lawrence Welk and all PBS musical specials as well as patriotic music. Helen spent several years volunteering with RSVP and helping others. She always put others needs ahead of her own and never asked for recognition; however, she did receive a lifetime recognition for her many volunteer efforts. She was a member of Madison Park Christian Church. Helen faithfully read her Bible and loved attending the Sonshiners activities at Madison Park Christian Church.
