Marilyn was an inspiration for kindness toward others. She devoted much of her life and energy as a motivator and caregiver to family and neighbors.

She will be deeply missed by her family; husband, Donald of Jefferson; her mother, Doris Krueziger of Phoenix, Ariz; son, Dave (Julie) Stelmaszewski of DeForest; daughters, Joan (Doug) Key of Jefferson, Jeanne Johnson of Jefferson, Janet (Dave) Schroedl of Fort Atkinson, June (Bill) Sullivan of Fort Atkinson; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bob Mercer of Jefferson, Bill (Judy) Mercer of Plover, Gene (Carla) Krueziger of Phoenix, Ariz., Glen Krueziger of Phoenix, Ariz.

She is preceded in death by her father Roland Mercer.

A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, at the Schneider-Michaelis Funeral Home in Jefferson from 4 p.m. until the time of services.

Memorial may be directed to Jefferson Rainbow Hospice in Marilyn’s name.

Schneider-Michaelis Funeral Home in Jefferson is assisting the family with arrangements.

Bill served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany.

While working in Milwaukee, he met his future wife, Judith (nee Zblewski). They married on Oct. 24th, 1964.

In the earlier years of their marriage, he worked for various drywall companies before eventually starting his own business. "Drywall Decorators, Repair Specialists". Bill owned his business until he retired.

Bill enjoyed his sports, especially boxing. He himself was a Golden Glove Champion and coach. He also started his own boxing club.

When it came to football, baseball and basketball, the Chicago Bears, Cubs and Bulls were at the top of his list.

Bill loved animals. He was mainly a dog person, German Shepherds were his favorite. He also loved the grace and beauty of horses, and placing a bet at the horse track was a plus.

Family was important to Bill. Not only his own, but the Highland Church family as well. Spending time with Jim Cass, Jim Wilson and the rest of "The Guys" was very important to him.

He is survived by his wife Judith (nee Zblewski), his son, Bill (Dena), Daughter, Brenda, four grandchildren, Brandon, Ian, Collin and Lauren. He is also survived by his brother Gene (Carla) Kreuziger and Glen Kreuziger along with many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Doris Kreuziger (nee Miller). Father, Roland Mercer, sister, Marilyn (Don) Stelmaszewski and brother, Robert (Millie) Mercer.

The Mercer family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our family and friends for their thoughts and prayers.

Also, sincere gratitude to the Tomah VA Assisted Living for our fathers care.

A funeral service for Bill will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 25, 2024 at Highland Church (700 Hoover Ave, Plover, WI). The family will greet relatives and friends at the church Friday morning from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM. Rev. Nathan Schroeder will officiate the service.

On October 24, 1964, Judith married William Mercer. The two welcomed two children; William and Brenda, and enjoyed nearly 60 years together until William's passing in 2024.

Judith was a kind woman who led a life of love; for her family and her faith. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and bird watching; especially humming birds and cardinals.

Judith is survived by her children, William (Dena) F. Mercer and Brenda Mercer; her grandchildren, Brandon, Ian, Collin, and Lauren Mercer; her sister, Bonnie (Jim) Adamski; and her brothers, Roger (Millie) Zblewski and Fred (Kathy) Zblewski.

Judith was preceded in death by her husband, William; her parents, Dennis and Evelyn; and her brother-in-law, James Adamski.

The family would like to thank their family and friends for the unwavering support during this difficult time.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Highland Church - 700 Hoover Ave., Plover, WI. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories at the church on Friday from 9:30 AM until the time of service.
