She married Maynard Udelhofen on July 12, 1930, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa; he died in 1980. She later married Leonard Klaas on October 10, 1981; they lived at rural Platteville. She attended the Platteville schools. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Platteville, and the Holy Christian Mother's Sodality at Dickeyville. She enjoyed music, dancing, playing cards and traveling. Surviving are her husband, Leonard Klaas, of Platteville; a daughter Joyce (Merlin "Tony") Puls, of Dickeyville; a stepdaughter, Maxine (Joseph) McKillip, of Freeport, Ill; two sons, William (Kathy) Udelhofen, of Cuba City, and Roger (Eileen) Udelhofen, of Kieler; a step son Eugene (Phylis) Klaas, of Lancaseter, a son-in-law, Ernie (Carol) Droessler, of Cubat City; 14 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, nine step grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her first husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Droessler, a brother James Byrnes; two sisters, Berneice Friedlien and Lena Lackner, and two great-grandsons, Shawn and Jonah Droessler.

Magdalen attended grade and high school there and then graduated from Platteville Normal School in June of 1923, after which she taught in the rural schools of Grant County for more than 17 years. On Feb. 20, 1943 she married Thomas H. Udelhofen in Dubuque. They resided on a farm near Cornelia until November 1950, when they returned and moved to Platteville.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Platteville and its council of Catholic Women.
Surviving are a brother, Mellitus "Pat" (Helen) Patzner of Potosi; a sister, Sister Florentine, S.S.S.F. of Milwaukee; one step-daughter-in-law, Marcella Udelhofen of Platteville; a sister-in-law, Alberta Patzner of Potosi; three step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; three step-great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas on July 18, 1982; her stepson, Raymond J. Udelhofen on May 11, 1989; a step grand-son, Thomas E. Udelhofen in 1982; and three brothers, Alfred, Norbert and Ray.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 20 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Kevin Dooley officiating. Burial was in St. Andrew's Cemetery, Tennyson. A Magdalen W. Udelhofen memorial fund has been established.
The Mergen-Boll Funeral Home in Platteville served the family.

Friends called at the Mergen-Boll Funeral Home in Platteville on Tuesday from 4 to 8 P.M. and at the church on Wednesday after 9:30 A.M. The scripture service was held at 7 P.M. at the funeral home.
Kenneth Eugene Udelhofen, the son of Harry E. And Gladys M. Reiter Udelhofen, was born May 10, 1922. He attended a rural school. On June 18, 1942, he was united in marriage to Bette Johnson. They lived in Platteville before movign to Belmont in 1946. Mrs. Udelhofen died May 23, 1983. He was employed as a tractor mechanic in Belmont for many years. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a 50-year member of the Hinkins Moody American Legion Post 453 of Belmont.
Udelhofen was also a former member and chief of the Belmont Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Lloyd and Dale.
Memorials may be given to the Hinkins Moody American Legion Post.
Surviving are a daughter, Peggy Bandt of Oxford and a grandson, Daniel (Karen) Bandt of Appleton.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Platteville. Fr. John Blewett and Deacon Bill Bussan will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Platteville, at a later date. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the mass on Saturday at the church. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory of Platteville is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Platteville Senior Center or to the Schools for Haiti Mission.

The youngest daughter of Edward and Emma (Duve) Flesch; she was born on February 26, 1928 in Potosi, Wisconsin. Marcella graduated from Potosi High School in 1945. One November 12, 1946, she married Raymond J. Udelhofen and they began their life together on his family farm in Cornelia, WI. They farmed for more than 36 years before moving to Platteville in 1982. Marcella loved playing card games of all sorts, as well as, playing cribbage and bingo. She also enjoyed trips to try her luck at various casinos both near and far. Among her hobbies were reading mystery novels, working jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and quilting for which her family were the beneficiaries of her creative talent.

In her later years, the causes and concerns of fellow senior citizens of the Platteville area became her passion. She was a regular attendant and active participant in the activities at the Platteville Senior Center. She served on and held various offices in both the Commission on Aging and the Senior Citizen’s Association for many years; advocating vigorously for the needs of the Platteville area seniors. She also served as a member on the Nutrition Council and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Platteville.

Marcella was the mother of four children, Connie (Mike) Gehrke, Margaret (Gary) Klar, Thomas, and Dennis (Kathy) Udelhofen; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond; five brothers; three sisters; son, Thomas; and daughter and son-in-law, Connie (Mike) Gehrke. Marcella is survived by son, Dennis (Kathy) Udelhofen, daughter Margaret (Gary) Klar; brother, Gerald (Nancy) Flesch; sister-in-law, Lillian Flesch; she is further survived by her grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

He was united in marriage to Pat on Oct. 6, 2001, in Stoughton. Mike worked at MG&E for 37 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Pat of Stoughton; a son, Kevin (Paulette) Gehrke of Edgerton; a daughter, Lisa Kenyon of Stoughton; three step-children, Scott (Pam) Johnson of Stoughton, Peggy (Joe) Hanson of Stoughton, and Bobbi Jo (Duane) Hammersley of Stoughton; 12 grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Karen Udelhofen, Ron (Sue) Gehrke, Barb (Glen) Parden and Rick (Karen) Gehrke; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Connie; and a nephew, Craig Defloran. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at ST. ANN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 323 N. Van Buren St., Stoughton. Monsignor Gerard Healy will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Ann Catholic Cemetery with military rites by the Stoughton American Legion Post No. 59 Honor Guard. The family will greet friends from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, at OLSON-HOLZHUTER-CRESS.
