Death14 April 1924William Linscott Silsby died on 14 April 1924 at Farlinville, Linn, Kansas, at age 74 Billy Silsby Dies. W. L. Silsby, known to everybody as Billy Silsby, died at his home near Farlinville, Monday evening, April 11.

Mr. Silsby had been in poor health for several months, much of the time confined to his home. Mr. Silsby was one of the early settlers of Linn county and knew much of its early history. His articles published in the Republic from time to time, recounting early events in Linn county history, were read with interest by nearly everyone.

He had many friends who are very sorry that he is gone. Funeral service, conducted by Rev, K. Wadse, were held at Farlinville, Wednesday, and interment was made in Walnut Grove cemetery. William Linscott Silsby was born November 22, 1849, in Rockford, Ill., and departed this life April 14, 1924, at his home near Farlinville. He was married, April 1875, to Miss Mary Walker.

To this happy union two children were born, one dying when a small child. Mr. Silsby was a great reader. In early part of his life he took part in politics. He was much interested in the welfare of the schools.

He gave us many sketches of history in the last few years of his life, in regard to the early days of Kansas, which were very interesting to the younger generation.
