Sugar is survived by her siblings: Steve (Holly Breitkreutz) Ruhland, Duane (Julie) Ruhland, Rhonna Hetzel, Sandy (Dave) Ruhland, Laurie (Bob) Haas, Cheri (Bill) Carpenter her sisters and brother-in-law: Marylynn Badillo, Jennifer (David) Olayvar, Geoff Brent, many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by parents, Charlie and Sally Ruhland, parents-in-law Joseph and Lola Brent, and brother in-law Larry Hetzel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 12:30 P.M. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Plain. Fr. Garret Kau will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM and again on Thursday from 11:30 AM until the time of Mass.

Kraemer, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison after a brief illness, surrounded in love by his family. He was born on August 21, 1934, in Baraboo, WI and was later adopted by Edward and Gisela (Frank) Kraemer. Duane was a lifelong resident of Plain, WI and attended St. Luke’s Catholic School and graduated from Campion High School.

Following his education at Marquette University, he joined his dad and brothers at Edward Kraemer & Sons as the company’s sole blasting expert in their aggregate quarries. He later advanced to the position of Area Superintendent. After transitioning with The Kraemer Company, he continued his career as an Area Superintendent. Over the course of 52 years, he traveled the state and made countless friendships with clients, upholding his father’s belief that a promise and a handshake was the strongest contract. Duane embodied the true spirit of a company man, going above and beyond to share his vast knowledge with all colleagues to ensure their success. His selflessness and dedication to his colleagues earned him not only respect, but also admiration from all those who had the pleasure of working with him.

Duane was an active member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church and a charter member of the St. Luke’s Knights of Columbus. Additionally, he was the construction manager for the initial development of the Westbrook Golf Course. Duane was deeply committed to his community, serving as an officer for the Plain Lions Club and as a member of the River Valley School Board for three years. Following his retirement, he devoted much of his time and energy to improving the church and school grounds. Duane or “Curly” as he was known by many, was married on April 19, 1958 to the former Gwendolyn Hill and was a devoted husband for 65 years. He was a loving father to their four daughters Laura, Mary, Kathy, and Anne and a doting “Papa” to his 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Gwen Kraemer; children, Laura (Randy) Kraemer-Haas, Mary (Glenn)Weiss , Kathy (Kevin) Heiser, and Anne (Tom) Pientka; as well as grandchildren, Connor Haas, Collin Haas, Ciara Kraemer Haas, Philip (Emily) Kraemer, Oliver Kraemer, Ben (Kristi) Heiser, Elizabeth (Brandon) Koziol, Jacob (Jarica) Heiser, Christopher (Nikki) Hill and Taylor Hill. He is also survived by his sisters: Mary Dunwell (DuPuis) and Joanne Lottes (DuPuis); sisters-in-law, Nola DuPuis and Corine Hill; as well as many nieces, nephews (especially the Kraemer, Hill families); other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Gisela Kraemer; and brothers, Rudy, Fred, and Vic Kraemer; Edmund, LaVern, Roland and David DuPuis; and sisters, Iris Umhoefer (Kraemer), Jeanne Von Allmon (DuPuis) and Patricia Goodell (DuPuis).

Duane took great pride in his home and lawn, his meticulous attention to detail was evident to all who knew him. Additionally, he enjoyed cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and moreover, he loved mixing up and indulging in a Korbel Brandy Manhattan, often sharing his favorite cocktail with anyone who would join him. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends and will be remembered as a kind and gentle man with a dry sense of humor and a generous soul.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Plain with burial in the church cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 24, 2023 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. and again on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of Mass.

Myrtle was born on July 28, 1930 in Elk Grove Township, WI. The daughter of Orville and Alta (Feathers) Moody. She graduated from Belmont High School in 1948. She grew up on the farm and was in 4-H and member of the Methodist Church. Myrtle attended The State Teachers College in Platteville WI. After receiving her degree, she taught at Vickers rural one room school. She was also a substitute teacher in area schools. Myrtle married Donald K. VanNatta on June 5, 1951 at the Methodist Church, Belmont WI. Don preceded here in death on June 1, 2015.

Myrtle was active in Girl Scouts, a Brownie Leader and helped Don as Scout master of Troop 82. She was very proud of her family. She enjoyed spending time talking and keeping “tabs” on them. Myrtle loved to send cards for birthdays and special occasions. Myrtle enjoyed watching sports. She followed the Hillman Pioneers, Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers as well as the Pearl City Wolves. She also enjoyed being Santa’s helper with Don during the holidays. Myrtle enjoyed traveling to Walt Disney World, Florida, Arizona and Branson, MO. She enjoyed visiting with people, listening to the Wundo’s, Bingo, movies, auction’s, shopping , reading the newspaper and participating in their contests, especially Cash for Christmas.

Myrtle is survived by four children, Marsha (Jay – her favorite son-in-law) Butson, Dennis VanNatta, Larry (Lisa – her favorite daughter-in-law), Mary Jo VanNatta (Mike); four grandchildren, Jayson VanNatta, Kelsey (Steve) Butson Sraga, Denyse VanNatta, Katie Butson (Ted); sister-in-law Mary Moody and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, father and mother-in-law Harold and Lillian VanNatta, brothers Orville Jr and Ronald, sister Margery Gill, brother-in-law Robert Gill and nephew Rodney Gill.

For many years she did hair for many people in the community. Later Barb worked at K & K Floors, Platteville. Barb was an active member of the Platteville United Methodist Church, and United Women of Faith. She gave a lot of her time as a volunteer for the American Red Cross for over 25 years and Grant County Relay for Life. Barb enjoyed spending her weekends during the summer with her family boating on the Mississippi.

Barb is survived by her three children Darcy Browning, Cory Browning, and Mara Browning; brother Gary (Sharon) Withrow; two sisters, Peg (Richard) Meyer and Pat (Jim) Bruun; sister-in-law Shirley Withrow, brother-in-law Dean Collins and many nieces and nephews; and granddog, Gunner. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Lou Ella Withrow, brother Jack Withrow, and sister Lynn Collins.

Bill served his country in World War II in the Army Air Corp with 8 months of combat duty as a tail gunner on a B29 aircraft with 30 missions over Japan. He shot down one Japanese plane in defense of his own plane. He was a member of Procter Baptist Church and American Legion Post #197. Bill retired after 38 years of service at Entex Gas Company of Beaumont and moved to Sabine County, Texas. After failing health he moved back to Port Neches in 2012.

He was blessed to have the name of "William" carried on in his family by his grandson and two great grandsons.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Rosa Lea Hunt; son, Hiram Hunt and wife Roz; two daughters, Karen Travillo and husband Jimmy and Kathy Addison and husband Tommy; brother, John Thomas (Jake) Hunt; five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at Jacksonville City Cemetery in Jacksonville, Texas.
