Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Kieler, with the Rev. Philip Krogman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Haudenshield Funeral Home, Cuba City, where there will be a parish wake service at 4 p.m.

Adele and her husband, Dick, formerly owned and operated the Greenhouse Tavern, in Kieler, and Helbing 's Supper Club, in Louisburg. She was previously employed by the Dug Out Supper Club, Swiss Colony and most recently by Lancaster Monument.

She was born on July 1, 1938, in rural Dickeyville, daughter of Harry and Dolores (Hinderman) Schiffman. She married Harold "Dick" Helbing on July 27, 1955, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Tennyson.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish and the Christian Mothers Sodality. She also was a member of the Tavern League Association, where she had served as secretary for a number of years.

Adele was a loving wife and caring sister, who will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.

Surviving are her husband, Dick; two brothers, Paul (Dolores) Schiffman, of Dubuque, and Harold "Harry" (Theresa) Schiffman, of Potosi; four sisters, Mary Lou Feltes, of Dubuque, Vera (Gerald "Jerry") Kruser and Jane (Terry) Bode, both of Kieler, and Sharon (John "Jack") Pitzen, of Dickeyville; a brother-in-law, David Pearce, of Hazel Green; a sister-in-law, Dorothy (Schiffman) Chapman, of East Dubuque, Ill; their "adopted son," Richie Turner, of Kieler; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bert Schiffman; a sister, Joyce Pearce; and a brother-in-law, Eldred "Al" Feltes.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Metcalfe-Kuenster-Page Funeral Home, Potosi, with Monsignor Tom Baxter officiating. Burial will be in St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery, Tennyson, where military rites will be accorded by members of the American Legion Post 473 and Berg Averkamp Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5276 of Potosi. Friends may call prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.

He was born on Nov. 5, 1942, in Lancaster, son of Adam and Margaret (Splinter) Helbing .

He served three years in the Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 473 of Potosi. He loved gardening and was especially proud of his yellow roses. He enjoyed fishing and dearly loved his children and grandchildren.

Surviving are two sons, Travis (Tracey) Helbing , of San Diego, Calif., and Cory (Stephanie) Helbing , of Lancaster; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Ella (Bob) Kittoe, of Cassville, and Marlene (LaVern) Oyen, of Potosi; two brothers, LeRoy (Juanita) Helbing , of Midway, Ga., and Richard Helbing ; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Born in Dubuque, Iowa, he was a resident of Liberty County for 40 years. He served 23 years in the United States Army, including two tours of duty in Vietnam, and earned the Bronze Star. After retiring from the military, he worked for Liberty County for 32 years until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Margaret Helbing; one son, Greg Helbing; and one brother, Eugene Helbing.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Juanita Helbing; two sons, Gerald and Michael Helbing of Texas; beloved stepchildren, Robert Lerma of New Mexico, Steven Lerma of California, Vita Sotelo of Texas, and Louis Maspero of California; two sisters, Ella Mae Holt and Marlene Oyen of Wisconsin; one brother, Richard Helbing of Iowa; 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Services will be private.

Helbing Jr. died on 10 February 2019 at Wisconsin at age 78 Henry "Butch" Helbing, age 78, passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospital, Janesville, WI, on Sunday, February 10, 2019. Butch was born in Cuba City, WI on August 7, 1940, to Henry and Hilda (Klaas) Helbing. He graduated with honors from Loras Academy, Dubuque, IA, in the Class of 1958. He enlisted in the United States Naval Reserve on February 11, 1959, and served two years active duty on the Destroyer Fleet based in Norfolk, VA. He was honorably discharged in January 1965 with the rank of EM3. On June 24, 1961, he married Mary Jo Timmerman at St. Rose Church in Cuba City, WI. They were blessed with three children. Butch was a lifelong plumber, and attained Master Status in both Wisconsin and Illinois. He was proud to be a union member of Local 214 in Janesville and Local 75 in Milwaukee reaching lifetime status in 2016. After retiring in 1999, he worked at Home Depot in Janesville for seven years.
