Memorial Services 1 P.M. Thursday, April 5, at First Lutheran Church. The Rev. Dr. Kay Slocum will officiate. Arrangements and Cremation entrusted to the Cremation Society of Eastern Central Western Iowa. Survivors include daughter Angie Miersen, Shane Brekke and baby Brekke of Cedar Rapids; a son Matthew James Miersen and Jessica French of Shellsburg; her parents Wayne and Ann McClain of Dubuque; brothers Ron (Chris) McClain, and Jerry McClain both of Dubuque; sisters Lori (Dennis) Weig of Dubuque, and Carol (Larry) Foht of Benton, WI; mother and father in law Ken Sr. and Barbara Harford of Marion; as well as many nieces and nephews. Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Brian James Miersen, her grandparents, 2 aunts, one uncle, and one cousin. Kathy Ann Miersen was born January 1, 1967 in Dubuque, the beloved daughter of Wayne and Ann (Schmerbach) McClain. She was united in marriage to Brian James Miersen on May 11, 1991 in Marion. Brian preceded her in death on March 15, 2007. She was a manager for the last 5 years at Timber Ridge Mobile Home Park. Kathy had great joy spending time with her family. Kathy was a loving mother and devoted wife, and will be missed forever. A memorial fund has been established.

Joe was self-employed as a subcontractor for Steve Schnee Construction.

He was born on Nov. 17, 1972, in Dubuque, son of Dennis B. and Ann S. (Hess) McClain . He died at approximately 11 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 1996, as the result of injuries sustained in a traffic accident near Welton on U.S. 61.

He attended Iowa State University at Ames and was a 1994 graduate of Kirkwood Community College, Cedar Rapids. He was very active and involved in band, basketball, track and cross country events in school and was a member of the Thespian Club. He loved hunting and being outdoors. He especially enjoyed working on restoring his 1968 GTO. He was an amateur photographer of outdoor and wildlife scenes. Joe touched the hearts of so many people.

Surviving are his parents, Dennis B. and Ann S. (Hess) McClain , of Andrew; two brothers, Dennis B. McClain II, of Clarinda, and Jason L. McClain , of Andrew; his grandmother, Betty McClain , of Dubuque; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mr. Kieler worked as a journeyman for Hawkeye International in Dubuque. He also drove a feed truck for Kieler Feed and Seed. Cary was very skilled in many trades.

He was born on July 27, 1962, at the former Xavier Hospital, Dubuque, son of Oliver "Babe" and MaDonna (Haberkorn) Kieler . He graduated from Southwestern High School in 1980.

He married Victoria Hamil on Nov. 5, 1988, in a small ceremony at their home.

He had a great love of hunting, fishing, morel hunting and boating. He also loved the Packers and NASCAR.

He was loved and adored by his wife, three children, family and many, many friends.

Surviving are his best friend and wife, Victoria Kieler, of Kieler ; two daughters, Kailey K. (fiance, Adam Blackburn) Kieler , of Dickeyville, and Lacie Jo Kieler, at home; a son, Tanner J. Kieler, at home; his parents, Oliver "Babe" and Donna Kieler, of Hazel Green; a sister, Vicky (Karl) Ballagh, of Hazel Green; a brother, Brian Kieler, of Hazel Green; his grandmother, Violet Haberkorn, of Dubuque; eight nieces and nephews; and an unborn grandchild. He also is survived by the other love of his life, his dog, Tracker.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ollie and Harriet Kieler; his maternal grandfather, Wiliam Haberkorn; a cousin, Keith Kieler ; an uncle, Hank Kieler; and an aunt, Nila Ann Furlong.

Ellen was born on Dec. 28, 1928, in Worthington, Iowa, daughter of Joseph and Ida (Tobin) Kohn. She married Floyd Kieler on Dec. 30, 1950, at St. Patrick's Church in Dubuque.

Ellen loved bingo, cards, going to the casino and playing solo and dice with her grandchildren. She had a great sense of humor and was very devoted to her faith, especially the rosary.

Surviving are her husband, Floyd, of Tennyson; four daughters, Diane (David) Konshak, of Cuba City, Denise (Ed McKenzie) Kieler , of Potosi, Donna (Tom) Digman, of Hazel Green, and Dena (Jason) Udelhofen, of Potosi; two sons, Richard "Dick" (Dana) Kieler , of Dickeyville, and Rodney Kieler , of Cuba City; two brothers, Delbert Kohn and John Kohn, both of Dubuque; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ida: two sons, Roy in 1963, and Roger in 2007; four sisters, Virginia, Geraldine, Luella and Patricia; and two brothers, Grange "Bud" and James.
