She was born on a farm near St. Helena, NE, on Oct. 26, 1909, to Henry and Frances (Schmucker) Bonertz. She was the second oldest of ten children. She attended school in the St. Helena area. As a young adult, she worked in the Yankton, SD, area. In 1938 she moved to Pueblo, CO, where she married Otto Huber on Aug. 26, 1940. To this marriage was born one daughter, Sharon. Aurelia spent her life as a dedicated wife and mother. She supported activities at Lakeview Elementary School and Pueblo Catholic High School and was an active member of St. Frances Xavier Parish in Pueblo for over 40 years. After Otto's death in 1996, she resided at the Pueblo Regent where she had many friends. In 2003 she moved to Rapid City, SD, to be near her daughter and son-in-law. Aurelia is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Harry and Sharon Blanks; her grandchildren: Harry (Magda) Blanks Jr. of Sacile, Italy; Katherine Blanks of Charlotte, NC; Jerald (Amy) Blanks of Rapid City, SD; MiChelle (Richard) Pollard of Baltimore, MD; nine great-grandchildren; her sister, Viola (Jerome) Suing, Hartington, NE; her sisters-in-law: Laurentia Bonertz of Yankton, SD, and Lugardis Bonertz of York, NE; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and brothers and sisters: Rose (Ed) Thoene, Bruno "Short" (Irma) Bonertz, Ted (Cordula) Bonertz, Ralph "Pete" Bonertz and Bill (Bernadette) Bonertz. Services are in charge of Osheim-Schmidt Funeral Home in Rapid City, SD, and T.G. McCarthy Funeral Home in Pueblo, CO. Viewing will be at T.G. McCarthy Funeral Home Sunday, Nov. 4. Services will be at St. Frances Xavier Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5. Burial will be in the Imperial Memorial Gardens in Pueblo.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 10:30 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington with Rev. Owen Korte officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in Hartington. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm at the church. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am on Thursday at the church. The Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington is assisting with the arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Raven Suing, David Suing, Matt Aune, Amy Mulloy, Gregg Kathol, Kyle Suing, Patrick Tweedy and Staci Kolm.

Viola was born on January 24, 1919 at St. Helena, Nebraska to Henry and Frances (Schmucker) Bonertz. She grew up on a farm near St. Helena and she married Jerome Suing on January 21, 1947 in St. Helena. They farmed east of Hartington for a year and then moved to a farm near Pleasant Valley, Nebraska. In June of 1982 they moved into Hartington and Viola worked in the Holy Trinity cafeteria for a few years. In January of 2015 Viola moved into the Park View Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge. She is the last surviving child of the Henry Bonertz family.

Viola was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and Guild, the Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters of America and the Hartington VFW Auxiliary Post 5283. She loved to play cards, garden, do embroidery work and watch baseball games. She especially loved to spend time with her children, grandkids and great grandkids.

Viola is survived by 8 children, Ron and Joann Suing of Crofton, NE; Gary and Patricia Suing of Kearney, NE; Karen Aune of Volin, SD; Geralyn Otteman of Yankton, SD; Mary Lou and Virgil Kathol of Hartington, NE; Duane and Joan Suing of Crofton, NE; Michele and Ray Tweedy of Yankton, SD; Tami Suing of Battle Creek, NE; 23 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and a sister-in-law, Clare Yeaton of Dover, NH.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jerome on January 2, 2014 at the age of 94, a granddaughter, Traci Kathol, a son-in-law, Steve Aune, 2 sisters, Rose Thoene and Aurelia Huber, 7 brothers, Linus, Bruno, Ted, Bill, Pete, Dick and John Bonertz.

He grew up in Aten, Nebraska and then the family moved to Yankton and where Perry graduated from Sacred Heart School. As a teenager, he worked at Our Place Café in South Yankton. Perry then worked at Morgen Manufacturing for over 30 years until it closed. He was the last one to walk out of the building and lock the door. Then, Perry worked for Nabisco, Cox Auto Supply and Mount Marty College as a night security officer. He was a very hard worker and took much pride in his work. Perry was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He enjoyed Wheel of Fortune night with Don and Vi and watching baseball games, especially the St. Louis Cardinals. Perry also liked woodworking and bowling in his younger years. Above all, he loved visiting with his close friends and being around his grandchildren. Perry is survived by three sons: Dean Slagle (Julie DeYonge) of Yankton, Galen Slagle of Sioux City, IA and Mike Slagle of Rapid City; two grandchildren, Aidan and Brooklyn Slagle of Rapid City; two sisters, Karen Folkers of Yankton and Cleo (Dave) Masur of Clearlake, CA; one brother, Dallas Slagle of Pueblo, CO; and many nieces and nephews. Perry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edmund Slagle and sister, Charlotte Breck.

Junior was born Jan. 27, 1960 in Creighton to Marvin and Gertrude (Meyer) Ruzicka. He went through grade school in Verdigre and graduated from high school in Wakefield. Junior married Diane Gutzmann on July 25, 1981. He worked for many years for the Milton G. Waldbaum Co., Great Dane Trailers in Wayne, and Lorensen Lumber in Pender and then drove truck for Lux Brothers of Hubbard. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Junior is survived by his wife of Emerson; one daughter, Melinda Davis and husband Adam of Lexington; one son, Chris and wife Deana of Aberdeen, Md; two grandchildren; three brothers, Gene and wife Laura of Mission Hills, S.D., Alan of Lyons and Garry and wife Jackie of Wayne; six sisters, Carol and Jayne Ruzicka, both of Clarion, Iowa, Joyce Kleinshmit of Yankton, S.D; Marlene Bittner of Albion, Donna Mausbach and husband Joe of Norfolk and Sister Kathy Ruzicka of David City. He also is survived by father-in-law Leonard Gutzmann, brother-in-law Joe Gutzmann and wife Diane and Danny Gutzmann and wife Johnene, all of Emerson. He had many nieces and nephews which he loved, several of which he referred to as “His Sweeties.” Junior was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law Donna Lou Gutzmann, sister-in-law Patsy Gutzmann, brother-in-law Gerard Kleinschmit and one grandson.
