Pallbearers were grandchildren, Brent Arens, Travis Arens, Brady Arens, Trevor Arens, Ashton Arens, Aliza Arens, Jenna Steffen and Holli Banes. Gerald was born June 14, 1930, in Fordyce to Anthony J. and Margaret (Sudbeck) Arens. He grew up on a farm three miles east of Fordyce and attended school at District 108. He farmed with his father and four brothers until his marriage to Lucille Schieffer Jan. 25, 1955, in Constance. After their marriage, they moved to a farm four and one half miles north of Crofton where he farmed his entire life. He also worked construction at Gavins Point Dam and as a laborer for the Corp of Engineers from 1955-1957. He enjoyed playing cards, dancing, fishing, hunting, farming and spending time with his entire family. Gerald was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and a former Frankfort Township board member. Survivors include his wife, Lucille, Crofton; eight children and their spouses, David A. and Ann Arens, Crofton; Marie and Kevin Guenther, Owasso, Okla; Tony Arens, Crofton; Jolene and Jeff Steffen, Crofton; Dan and Lorraine Arens, Crofton; Marge and Kevin Kniefl, Lincoln; Gary and Joselyn Arens, Crofton; and Janice and Tom Johnston, Sioux City, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three sisters and spouses, Lorraine Schmidt, Yankton, S.D; Janita and Robert Uhing, Niobrara; and Delores and Charles Arens, Crofton; two brothers and spouses, Dennis and Mary Frances Arens, Hartington, and Kenneth and Ruth Arens, Fordyce; two sisters-in-law, Rita Arens, Fordyce, and Helen Arens, Hartington. Burial will be at Beaver Creek cemetery in Crofton. Visitation will be on Monday, at church, from 5-8:00 p.m. with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday morning at church one hour prior to services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home of Crofton, NE.

Pallbearers will be David Arens, Tony Arens, Dan Arens, Gary Arens, Kevin Kneifl, and Jeff Steffen.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lucille's grandchildren.

Lucille Olivia Arens was born on November 9, 1935 in Constance, NE to Joseph G. and Christina E. (Guenther) Schieffer. She grew up in Constance where she was baptized, received First Holy Communion, and was confirmed. She graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Hartington, NE. Lucille married Gerald Rudolph Arens on January 25, 1955 in Constance. They lived and farmed 4 ½ miles north of Crofton. Gerald died on March 11, 2005 at the age of 74 years.

Lucille belonged to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and its guild, Christian Mothers, Frankfort Progressive Club and worked on the election board for 45 years. She prayed the rosary at the Beaver Creek cemetery for 9 weeks on Monday nights in the summer for favorable weather and the people buried there. Lucille liked to do anything with her hands, sewing, cooking, baking, crafts, gardening etc. She wasn't afraid to run any of the farm machinery through the years.

She is survived by her eight children and spouses, David A. & Ann Arens of Crofton, Marie & Kevin Guenther of Owasso, OK, Tony Arens of Crofton and friend Rhonda Hofer, Jolene & Jeff Steffen of Crofton, Dan & Lorraine Arens of Crofton, Marge & Kevin Kneifl of Lincoln, NE, Gary & Joselyn Arens of Crofton, Janice & Tom Johnston of Sioux City, IA; 20 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two sisters Jeanette Wieseler of St. Helena, NE, Angela Mueller of Crofton; sister-in-law Rosemary Schieffer of Riverton, WY.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gerald; infant son Anthony; two granddaughters Brittney & Morgan Steffen; two brothers Arthur and Sylvester Schieffer; sister Irene Pinkelman; brothers-in-law Fredolin "Fritz" Pinkelman, Clarence Mueller, and Leonard Wieseler.

Survivors include his wife, Rita, Fordyce; three children, Vernon, Fordyce; Irene and her husband, Vince Vaughn, Albuquerque, N.M; and Barb Arens, Omaha; two grandchildren, Zachary Robert and Dominic Jerome Vaughn; four sisters and their spouses, Lorraine Schmidt, St. Helena; Evelyn Koch, Crofton; Janita and Robert Uhing; Niobrara; Delores and Charles Arens, Crofton; four brothers and their spouses, Gerald and Lucille Arens, Crofton; Damian and Helen Arens, Hartington; Dennis and Frances Arens, Hartington; Kenneth and Ruth Arens, Hartington, and many neices and nephews. Kenny was born on April 5, 1942 at Bow Valley, Nebraska to Edwin and Loretta (Arens) Pick. He grew up in the Bow Valley area and graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1961. He served in the National Guard from1961 to 1967. He married Charlotte Wiebelhaus on November 14, 1964 at Fordyce, Nebraska. They made their home on a farm east of Hartington where Kenny farmed until his death and also operated the tank wagon for Farmers Union Oil Company in Hartington from 1961 to 1988. He belonged to the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and enjoyed playing cards, driving his 4 wheeler and checking on his cattle.

Kenny is survived by his wife, Charlotte of Hartington; 5 children and their spouses, Tim and Kathy Pick of Hartington; Dixie and Marc Fischer of Hartington; Tom and Jennifer Pick of Columbus, Nebraska; Dean and Angela Pick of Hartington; Darin and Lisa Pick of Hartington; 15 grandchildren, his mother, Loretta Pick of Bow Valley; 2 sisters and 4 brothers.

He was preceded in death by his father and a grandson Cody Pick.
