Mr. Carter was a native and lifelong resident of Durham. He served in the United States Army during World War II in Europe. Mr. Carter retired from U.S. Postal Services. He was a lifetime member of Angier Avenue Baptist Church and a member of the Cabin Class.
He is survived by his wife, Velcie Glenn Carter; a son, Johnny Glenn Carter; two daughters, Dale Beneditto and Tucker Crawford; and a sister, Julia Fields.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
