He overcame his inability to hear and developed a method of communicating with people, which made him independent. He attended school in Delevan where he learned woodworking, which he excelled at. He loved wildlife and farming which he did his whole life and had a fond affection for his animals. His faith was very important to him. He use to attend a deaf and mute church in Madison, later transferring to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Reedsburg and attended services which would sign for him. After moving to the Senior Life Center, Milton became very active in their activities events, his favorite being the trip to Rock Springs to the Big Cat Rescue. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William.

He is survived by his sister, Bertha Vater of Madison

Visitation will be on Saturday at the church from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. The Family requests memorials of remembrance be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or the Senior Life Center. The Farber Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

HENRY WESTEDT has been a resident of Sauk County for over half a century, and has given his capable attention to various lines of business, but chiefly to contracting and building. With headquarters at Loganville, he has extended his work as a contractor all over this section of the state, and besides much other high class work he erected two hotels at Loganville. Mr. Westedt was born in Germany, May 10, 1846, son of Henry and Mary (Schultz) Westedt. His father was born in 1818 and his mother in 1822. The father died in Germany in 1852, when his son Henry was six years of age. The family continued to live in Germany for some years, where Henry Westedt grew up and received his education. On June 9, 1866, he landed in New York City with his mother and two sisters, Dora and Mary. They soon came on west and settled at Loganville in Sauk County, where his mother passed away in 1893. Mr. Westedt's sister Dora married Christ Hasz, daughter of Peter Hasz, of Loganville. His sister Mary married William Schmidt. Mr. Henry Westedt married Dora Schmedt, daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Retzmann) Schmedt. They have reared a splendid family of children named William, Otto E., Dorothea, Ida, FrecTericka, Ewald H., Caroline and Ruth. The son William married Anna Schuette; Otto E. married Annie Lueders; Ida is the wife of Charles Bartenbach; and Caroline is the wife of Edward Kohlmeyer. The other children are still unmarried. The daughter Fredericka is a graduate nurse. The son Otto enjoys a very successful practice as a physician and surgeon at Loganville. Ewald is now finishing his work in preparation for the degree Doctor of Dental Surgery.

She is survived by one son, Raymond Westedt of Brookfield; one daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Luella) Booker of Seattle, Wash; one step-son, Elmer Kutzbach of Reedsburg; one step-daughter, Mrs. Edna Schneider of Baltimore, Md; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Selma Schinnerer of Temple City, California. Funeral services for Anna Kutzbach will be held at 1:30 Thursday afternoon in St. Peter's Lutheran Church with Rev. Herbert Drachenberg officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery of Loganville. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday a the Gant Funeral Home. Taken from the Reedsburg Paper.
