Gerald E Robson
Life EventDateDescription
BirthJuly 1945Gerald Edward Robson was born in July 1945 at Wisconsin.
He was the son of Gordon B. Robson and Grace Wiest.
Death31 December 2020Gerald Edward Robson died on 31 December 2020 at age 75 At 11:29 pm on December 31, 2020 the world stood still for just a moment before all of us were ready to celebrate a new year with possibilities and hope.

2020 may have been a rough year, but it ended with more hope than it had for sure because heaven's army gained, and we all lost, a true Earth angel. Gerald E. Robson, aka "Jerry" and "Ger Bear" left us peacefully surrounded by unconditional and cosmic love, with his favorite blankets, nature sounds and life 102.5, his bears, and a few Christmas lights. His immediate family got to spend some much-needed time with him before his departure and are eternally grateful he was so gracious to give us all that time. He left in true "Jerry" fashion as anyone who knew him, knew he wouldn't want to waste anything, not even a day. He was larger than life with the most gentle soul and was nothing short of an inspiration. He was able to always see his, and help others to see their, glass half full. And if not, he'd be the first to buy you a drink, so it was. He was always able to find the rainbow in any storm. There are so many words that could be used to describe him, like intelligent, humble, innovative, humorous, bionic, warm, classy, genuine, giving, forgetting, and his ability to adapt to anyone, any place he went, was only part of what made him so special. He himself was an absolute light as he knew how to light up a room in multiple fashions from his smile to his lifelong career.

Gerald was born to Gordon and Grace Robson in July 1945. He grew up in Spring Green and was the second youngest of four children. His parents owned the local electric store and were very active in the River Valley community and in the chamber. He often spoke of a fond memory when his father and him planted trees along Hwy 14. He and his siblings also enjoyed when his parents and the local fire station would make an ice-skating rink in his childhood backyard and the entire village was able to enjoy it. He was a member of the first class to graduate from the brand new River Valley High School in 1963. He had a love of cars, having one of the first Pontiac GTO convertibles that he drag-raced in Union Grove. He apprenticed under his father, Gordon, at Robson Electric in Spring Green after graduating and became a certified electrician. He later pursued his masters. While building his family he also pioneered the Arena chicken raising market. His "Chicken Coop" was later turned into Arena's famous "Sandbar Sports Arena" and he was proud to tell people he built it. Later in life he lived and worked in Madison and was involved with electrical programs like Project Home and Focus on Energy that helped people to save money. Gerald was a business owner and entrepreneur most his life but enjoyed helping others most. He was always on top or ahead of the latest innovation and technology, especially with lighting.

His legacy is so much more than anything words can actually describe, it was more of a feeling to the people who his hugs penetrated their soul like the sun. He changed the lives of the people who were blessed enough to know his love, loyalty, and devotion. He didn't let anything keep or get him down, at least not for long. He knew that in life to overcome any obstacle thrown at you all you needed was love and positivity mixed with a little blissful ignorance. He was a wealth of knowledge and always managed to find a solution to any problem and all while thinking of the right "dadism" to go along with whatever the current situation was. A few his daughters can recall are; "A champagne lifestyle on a beer budget", "lack of planning on your part doesn't constitute an emergency on mine", and the famous "Gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today". His personal favorite most recently while working on his puzzles at Greenway was "I'm not a dirty old man, I'm a sexy senior citizen".

He taught you how to find the good in everything in life. To be selfless and give all you can when and where you can. Share yourself with others in a simple hug or kind gesture. Take time out to pet a cat and play some bingo. Worrying is just a waste of productivity and good time. So, go find a solution to the problem you are facing right now and CHOOSE JOY. Also remember, if you don't like what you heard the first time, just ignore or forget it.

Until the very end he showed us all how kindness, faith, love, light, perseverance and a little humor is all you need to be happy in life and everything else, well it's material. And they make new every day. He was living proof of how a hopeful heart and the power of positive thinking can take you further than you can imagine. If he loved you, he was a shelter for you through any storm. Most of all he taught how to never give up and to fight all the battles that come your way in life with God, grace, dignity and again a little humor.

Gerald survived by his daughters, Tara (Chris) Hill, Barbie Robson and Allen Zweifel, Traci Marti, his son, Chris (Rozanne) Robson, his brother, Ron Robson, his sisters, Pauline (Ken) Short, Marge Klinge (Monte), his grandchildren, Danny Robson, Kyle & Bret Marti, Darrin & Seth Eveland, Destiny, Dawson, Daelynn, Dreydon and "grandpas baby Dani", Danika Hill.

Preceding him in death were his loving parents, his faithful sister-in-law, Mary Robson, and a handful of close friends that he made family along the way.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to cover end of life expenses and the remainder will go into a foundation that will be created in Gerald's memory to help bring others joy.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2021 from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at the Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home in Spring Green.

A celebration in honor of his beautiful life will be held on his birthday Sunday, July 11,2021 at 2 pm. It will be at Willow Hill Enchanted Cove & Gardens (the former Sandbar Sports Arena & dad's old chicken coop.)
