A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Plain. Fr. John Silva will officiate with burial in the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Spring Green. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M.

Karen was born on December 21, 1954 to Richard and Carol (Liegel) Meixelsperger. Kitty graduated from River Valley High School in Spring Green. She was a very caring person who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She worked meticulously for 43 years at Graber (now Springs) Window Fashions in Middleton and was also an avid sports enthusiast with a wicked fastball, a crafty chip shot and a zest for the Packers. Kitty is survived by her mother Carol Meixelsperger of Plain, siblings: Jane (Timm) Prouty of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; Rick of Spring Green; Ruth (Fred) Schreiner of Spring Green; Jeff (Mary) of Dublin, Ohio; Mary (Bernie) Andrews of Galesburg, Illinois; Rory (Tracey) of Plain and Mike (Lauri) of Prairie du Sac as well as a very special life-long friend Cheryl Alt of Middleton and Godparents Florian and Dorothy Frank. She is also survived by nephews and nieces: Lacey (God daughter), Tyler, Nathan, Tezra, Erin, Jesse, Crystal, Jennifer, John, Katelyn, Anna, Claire, Jack, Carina and Kyle and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard and a brother, Martin. A private Mass in memory of Kitty will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Plain, WI with family and close friends, per Kitty’s wishes. Memorials may be made to St Luke’s School. Online condolences available at www.staffordfuneralhomes.com. The Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home in Spring Green is assisting the family with arrangements.

Rick was born on January 18, 1953, at Reedsburg Area Hospital to Rich and Carol (Liegel) Meixelsperger. Rick cherished time with his family. He is survived by his children: Nathan (Lisa) Meixelsperger, Tezra (Mark) Menne, and Erin (Christopher) Lane; his grandchildren: Jacob and Olivia Menne, Zadie Lane, and Brittany Baker; great-granddaughter Lylianah Baker. He is also survived by his mother, Carol Meixelsperger, and his siblings: Jane (Timm) Prouty, Ruth (Fred) Schreiner, Jeff (Mary) Meixelsperger, Mary (Bernie) Andrews, Rory (Tracey) Meixelsperger, and Mike (Lauri) Meixelsperger. And many nieces and nephews.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Richard (Rich) Meixelsperger, his siblings Kitty and Marty Meixelsperger, and his grandson Tyler Lane.

Rick graduated from River Valley High School and attended culinary school at Madison Area Technical College.

After school he was a Chef at The Spring Green Restaurant. In 1980, Rick realized his dream of owning a restaurant and bakery, purchasing a building on Jefferson Street, creating many lifelong friendships, over coffee and donuts, that he cherished through the many years. Rick poured his heart into his business for over 40 years, retiring in 2019.

Rick was a man of varied passions. He was an avid outdoorsman, spending time hunting deer, bears, and small game. He loved spending time on his brother Jeff’s land in Northern Wisconsin, especially after retirement. He also loved watching the Packers and Badgers. He enjoyed fishing on the Wisconsin River, birdwatching and woodworking. Spending time with his granddaughter Zadie brough him much joy, with a recent memorable moment when she wore a pair of wooden shoes, he brought back from one of his many travel adventures. Ricks love of sharing his skills shone as he taught Brittany how to make his fall favorite apple cider donut – a tradition she carried on after his retirement.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Plain, WI on Friday, December 6, 2024. A visitation will be held from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. Burial will follow immediately at the church cemetery.
