Fiedler of Springfield died Friday, August 13, 2010 at his home in rural Springfield after a battle with cancer, under hospice care. Fred attained the age of 74 years, one month and 19 days. Mass will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at St. Vincent Catholic Church in Springfield, with burial at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the parish cemetery. Visitation will be at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Springfield Monday from 12 noon to 5 p.m., followed by a 7 p.m. Wake at the church. Fredrich Carl Fiedler, son of Carl August and Darlene (Vaughn) Fiedler, was born June 26, 1936 at Yankton, SD. Fred grew up in the Yankton area and attended Yankton Schools. He earned his G.E.D. Certificate in Welding and also received Certificates in Basic Electronics at SD VoTech in Springfield and attended several management courses at Yankton College. Fred served in the National Guard and received an honorable discharge on July 5, 1959. He worked as a cook’s helper for three years and was honorably discharged from U.S.A.R .on July 31, 1962. Fred married Doris Parisien on March 21, 1956 at St. Louis Parish in Dunseith, ND. Seven children were blessed to their union. They spent their 54 years together in Yankton and in Springfield since 1976. Fred and his brother Bob were paperboys for the P&D in their early teens and they told stories of their experiences. He also worked at Gurney’s, Health and Human Services, Freeman Company for nine years, Kolberg’s for three years, and Dale Electronics for 25 years as a tool and dye maker and supervisor of the machine shop. Fred retired in 1993. He then returned to work part time as a cook at Carmichael’s Café in Springfield and later worked for Libby’s Steak House as a salad chef. Fred enjoyed cooking. Fred was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church since 1982. He also was a lifetime member of the N.R. A. since 1967 and Ducks Unlimited. Besides cooking, Fred enjoyed golfing, fishing, picking mushrooms, and hunting antelope, deer and elk with his children and grandchildren. He also hunted fox, ducks, geese and pheasants. Thankful for having shared his life are his wife Doris of Springfield; his children: Fredrick; Kevin and wife Kathy, all of Springfield; Karen and husband Greg Allen of Bemidji, MN; Corrine and husband Gary Johnson of Watertown; and Kathleen and husband James Haines of Volin; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; five brothers: Bob of Buena Park, CA; Jim and wife Cindy of Sioux Falls; David of Irene; Tom and wife Cheryl of Yankton; and Steve and wife Debbie of South Carolina; three sisters: Bonnie and husband Ken Lemley of Spartanburg, SC; Martha and husband Al Tripp of Utica; and Karla and husband Ken Schiller of Sunland, CA; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; new born daughter, Mary Theresa; son, Marc Karl; grandson, Vincent Frederick Varilek; an infant sister, Karen; and one brother, Terry.

Jim attended and graduated from Yankton High School. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1958 and was Honorably Discharged in 1964. He married Florence Reisner October 8, 1958. He was united in marriage to Cindy (Even) Aarbo on March 19, 1999.

Jim worked in the grocery business for many years with National Food store in Huron, SD and Cherokee, IA. He moved to Sioux Falls in 1977 when he joined Hy-Vee as assistant manager. He also managed the store in Windom, MN and Watertown, SD. He then worked for 18 years at Ben-Hur Ford before retirement. In retirement he worked part-time at Randalls and Christ the King School. He was a long time member at Christ the King Parish. Jim loved golfing, hunting, gardening and reading.

Jim is survived by his wife: Cindy, Sioux Falls; children: Leslie (Roger)Williams, Paulina, IA, Cindy (Dean) Gravenish, Cherokee, IA, Jeff Fiedler, Cherokee, IA, Mike (Angie) Fiedler, Cherokee, IA; step- children: Troy (Tara) Aarbo, Sioux Falls, SD and Anna (Chris) Nesheim, Omaha, NE; 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren;

siblings: Robert, David and Steve Fiedler, Karla Schiller and Martha Tripp; many nieces, nephews and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Fred, Tom and Terry Fiedler, Bonnie Lemley, infant Karen Fiedler, and daughter-in-law Lisa Fiedler.

Visitation will be 9:30 AM Wednesday, November 4 at Christ the King Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM with burial to follow at St. Michael Cemetery with Full Military Rites.

Fredrick John Fiedler, first born child of Fredrich C. and Doris (Parisien) Fiedler, was born October 18, 1955 at Garrison, ND.

He died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Centerville, SD. Fred attained the age of 57 years, five months and 16 days.

Fred received his elementary schooling in Yankton and attended Yankton High School, earning his GED on December 26, 2001.

He worked at various jobs throughout his life, two of which were the Springfield Academy and CR Industries in Springfield. Fred most recently worked for the South Dakota Human Services Center in Yankton for seven years as a mental health technician.

Fred loved to fish, hunt and cook. He was a pet lover and a pet caregiver. Fred was a race car fan and enjoyed working in a pit crew for several years. He also loved to "tinker" with the mechanics of a car.

Fred was to be married to the love of his life, Kathy Lutgen on April 10, 2013.

Thankful for having shared his life fiance' Kathy Lutgen of Yankton; his mother, Doris of Springfield; his siblings: Kevin and wife Kathy of Springfield; Karen and husband Greg Allen of Bemidji, MN; Corrine and husband Gary Johnson of Watertown; and Kathleen and husband James Haines of Volin; eight nieces and nephews; seven great nieces and nephews; and his future in-laws: Daniel Oursland of Fullerton, CA and Kathryn Lutgen of Escondido, CA.

Fred was preceded in death by his father on August 13, 2010; an infant sister, Mary Theresa; a brother, Marc Karl; and a nephew Vincent Frederick Varilek.

Tom Warren Fiedler, son of Carl and Darlene Fiedler, was born June 7th, 1947 in Yankton. Tom grew up and attended school in Yankton and was drafted into the Army shortly after graduation in 1965. He proudly served in Vietnam, until he received an honorable discharge.
Upon the passing of his father in 1967, he took care of his mother and younger siblings. On September 7th, 1997 he married Cheryl Espedal and together they have one son. Tom was very proud to have lived in Yankton. He worked in several different positions during his lifetime.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl of Yankton, SD; son, Paul of Chicago, IL and Matthew of South Sioux City, NE; brothers: Robert of Anaheim, CA, James (Cindy) of Sioux Falls, SD, Steven (Debra) of Concord, NC, David of Irene, SD; sisters: Martha (Alvin) Tripp of Utica, SD and Karla (Ken) Schiller of Sinland, CA.
Tom was preceded in death by both parents and siblings, Fred, Terry, Karen and Bonnie.

Ken was a faithful member of Church of the Covenant, served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era, was the owner/operator of Budget Print Center in Spartanburg, South Carolina and also worked as an Inn Keeper with Holiday Inn.

In addition to his wife Gloria, he is also survived by two daughters, Lori Frey and her husband Kenny of Fairforest, South Carolina and Jill Stanley Whited and her husband Chad of Inman, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Christina Frey (Kyle Baker), Sarah Hamilton (Tate), Daniel Stanley (Allison) and Troy Stanley (Emilee); seven great-grandchildren, Samantha Duncan, Luke Duncan, Hayden Robbins, Alanna Robbins, Tate Jordan Hamilton, Jr., Ruby Hamilton and Crawford Hamilton; one niece, Kara Lemley; one nephew, Jeff Lemley.

He was predeceased by one brother, Lesley "Skip" Lemley.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 10:00-10:45 AM at Church of the Covenant, 9020 Asheville Hwy, Spartanburg, South Carolina 29316. Funeral service will follow in the church at 11:00 AM with Rev. Arthur Holt and Mr. Richard Beauchene officiating. Burial will be in Fort Prince Memorial Gardens with Military Honors provided by Boiling Springs Post 200.
