They farmed together for many years, first in Lancaster and in 1942, they moved to a farm near Platteville, where her husband still resides. She was a homemaker. She liked gardening, playing cards and was an avid bowler and fisherman. She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, where she was active in her church circle. Helen enjoyed being with her family. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Burdette of Platteville; a daughter, Nancy (Tom) Hoover of Hilton Head, S.C; three sons, William (Shirley) Graney of Beulah, N.D., Tom (Barb) Graney of Covington, La. and Stanley (Donna) Graney of Platteville; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Warren (Lucille) Koeller and Fred (Dorothy) Koeller all of Potosi; sister-in-law, Carol Graney of Lancaster; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Hannah, Esther, Bertha, Dorothy and Leona; and four brothers, Arthur, Raymond, Leo and Walter. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at the FIRST CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, Platteville. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Platteville. The Rev. Catherine Carlson will officiate. Friends may call on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the MELBY-BENDORF FUNERAL HOME, 1245 N. Water St., Platteville, or on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the Helen M. Graney Memorial Fund.

He was born on November 2, 1920, in Potosi Township, the son of Fred and Louisa (Fritz) Koeller. On November 3, 1942, Warren was united in marriage to Lucille Bailie at her family farm in South Lancaster Township. After their marriage the couple farmed fourteen years in the Lancaster area until the purchase of their farm in Potosi Township. He was a member of Davies Memorial United Church of Christ and also served as trustee. He belonged to the F&AM Warren Lodge No. 4 of Potosi; served as a supervisor for Potosi Township from 1968 until 1984, and was on the ASC Committee. Warren enjoyed hunting from deer to turkeys to morels. He also enjoyed many fishing trips here and in northern Wisconsin, plus traveling to Canada and throughout the United States.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille, Lancaster; one son, John Koeller, Prairie du Chien; three daughters, Judy (Larry) Maahs, Linda (Bob) Schmelz, all of Potosi; Doreen Wagner, Fennimore; nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and many members of the Koeller and Bailie family.

In addition to his parents, Warren was preceded in death by many brothers and sisters and their spouses; a son-in-law, Kenneth Wagner; a grandson, Daniel R. Schmelz and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral and Masonic services were held on Friday, July 12, 2013, at Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Potosi at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Petra Streiff officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Family and friends called on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

On September 24, 1946, Fred was united in marriage to Dorothy Dresen in Platteville. After their marriage the couple continued to farm the family farm and raised a family. Fred enjoyed bowling, playing cards, playing marbles, and was an avid Badgers and Packers fan. He dearly loved his family and family gatherings at his lifetime home. Fred was a member of the Potosi School Board for seventeen years and was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church.

Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Dorothy; their children: Dianne (Don) Jaworski; Ruth (Dan) Bailey; Janice (Larry) Ploessl; Richard (Cindy) Koeller; a son-in-law, Bill Schmitz; fourteen grandchildren: Brian (Corrine) Jaworski; Jill (Mike) Anderson; Jason (Jacqueline) Jaworski; Gina (David) Reinhard; Andrew Jaworski; Todd (Anita) Schmitz; Lisa (Brian) Abing; Jessica (Chris) Cauthen; Nicole (Brian) Stafeil; Travis (Trisha) Downs; Thomas (Casey) Downs; Andrea (Jeremy) White; Dan Koeller; Alex Koeller; twenty-two great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; three sisters-in-law; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by a daughter, Marie Schmitz and eleven siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, November 17, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Burial was in St. Thomas Cemetery, Potosi. Family and friends called on Sunday, November 16, 2014, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Potosi is assisting the family.

Death31 August 2006Jean A. Sweeney died on 31 August 2006 at age 85 Jean A. Peterson, age 85, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006, surrounded by her loving family at Oregon Manor following a long illness. She was born on Feb. 15, 1921, in Portage, the daughter of Frank and Vivien (Waite) Sweeney. In 1939, Jean graduated from Portage High School. On May 6, 1943, she was united in marriage to Harlan Peterson in Great Falls, Mont. Jean worked as a beautician in Portage before moving to Madison with her husband. She was an extremely loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. When her children were growing up, she was very active with their activities, such as Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. Jean was a talented woman, who was skilled in many areas of life, including sewing, furniture refinishing, upholstering, and cooking. Jean is survived by her husband of 63 years, Harlan Peterson of Madison; four children, Larry (Jean) Peterson of Vail, Colo., Jeffry Peterson of Milwaukee, Ann (Doug) Farah of Green Bay and Jan (Tim) Paige of Middleton; four grandchildren, Brittany, Alisa, Austin and Nicholas; three step-grandchildren, Zach, Chris and Shelby; and a sister, Jane York of Portage. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Joan Sweeney. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Ave., on Friday, Oct. 6, 2006, at 12 Noon with Monsignor Michael Hippee officiating. A visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Private burial will be held at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery in Portage. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, South Central Wisconsin Chapter, 517 N. Segoe Rd. No. 301, Madison, Wis. 53705 or to the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, Wis. 53711.
