He married Mahala Potts on 22 August 1833 in Hendricks Co., Indiana and to this union two children were born: Samuel Perry Guynn and Naoma (Guynn) Everett. Mahala died in 1840 and Milton then married Jane Lewis. To this union 5 children were born; Seth, Jane, Susan, Sarah and John W. Milton Guynn, an old gentleman, aged about 79 years, who lived on Sugar Creek, came to this place last Thursday afternoon to visit his daughter, Mrs. William Jobe, and family, and became suddently ill at about 4 o'clock with a pain in his stomach, accompanied by a chill. He went to bed and a physician was summoned who gave him a hypedermic injection which put him to sleep. The family sat at his bedside until about 4 o'clock this monring when his spirit took its flight to the God who gave it. His remains will be interred tomorrow at Linnville cemerery, where members of his family are interred. Deceased was an old and highly respected citizen of the county and leaves many friends to mourn his demise.

James was a soldier in the Revolutionary War (DAR Ancestor #A021784), documented in his pension application W-9782. While a resident of Pittsylvania County, Virginia, he enlisted in May 1777 and served three months as private in Captain Donaldson's Virginia Company. He enlisted again in February 1779 and served until July 23, 1779 in Captain William Witcher's Company. His third enlistment began in March or April 1780 and was for 10 months in Captain Clement's Company of Colonel Faulkner's Virginia Regiment. James was present at the Battle of Camden, also known as Gates' Defeat.

Family History Of The Lemmon Family:
Robert Lemmon with brothers John and James emigrated to America in 1750, settling in Baltimore, Maryland. They remained there a number of years, agitating the question in favor of American Liberty, and when wars came they were in the front lines and heat of battle. Robert Lemmon and his brothers entered the army during the French and Indian War, and served under General Edward Braddock and his Aid de Camp, George Washington. They were in the Battle of Fort Duqesne on July 9, 1777 on the occasion of defeat and mortal wounding of General Braddock.At the out break of the American Revolution the three brothers again entered the services of their country. This time as Captains in the Maryland and Virginia lines. Captain James Lemmon was killed in the Battle of Brandywine. Captain John Lemmon survived and upon the termination of hostilities moved with his family to Green County, Kentucky where he settled on and improved a fine farm upon the banks of the Green River – known far and wide as “Lemmon’s Bend.” He reared a large family, the greater portion of whom subsequently became pioneers in the new States and territories.

His great-grandson, Major Alexander C. Lemmon, settled in Dallas, Texas in 1889 and its is for him that Lemmon Avenue in Dallas is named.After serving in the French and Indian War Robert Lemmon was married to Eleanor Davis—born in Wales and of the Jefferson Davis line. In 1786 they moved to Kentucky and settled at Elk Creek, Shelby County and he died there after 1800.

James Lemmon, Robert's son, was born near Hagerstown, Maryland. He served as a messenger boy during the American Revolution when a lad of twelve years, It being safer for boys to carry messages than men. He carried messages from the camp of George Washington to that of Captain Robert Lemmon (his father) and others. He lived in Washington’s camp in Valley Forge and affectionately called him “Uncle George.” Towards the end of the war, James entered the Continental Army as a private and served until the end of the war. In 1800 James Lemmon married Sarah Carr and lived in Shelby, Ky until her death in 1815. He moved his family of children to Indiana where later he married Amy Rawlins. About 1835 they were lured by free land into Illinois where they settled in Green County – living land-grant located partly on Ten Mile Creek in what is known as the southern part of Dallas County. Needing some help in getting his large family to Texas, Roderick Rawlins brought along young Robert Allen Lemmon (son of James Lemmon) and also Carlos Wise, neighbors and also friends of his own son “Alex.” These two boys were so delighted with Texas that they selected 640 acre tracts of land lying next to the Rawlins grant and walked back to Illinois to bring their parents. Robert Allen Lemmon returned with his father, James Lemmon, his mother, Amy Rawlins Lemmon and his younger brother Jackson Lemmon in Aug 1845.James Lemmon, a citizen of the Republic of Texas, died on July 4, 1858, at his home three miles below Lancaster on the Dallas-Ellis County line. He was buried 90 years ago in Edgewood Cemetery, Lancaster, Texas, near the spot where the Rawlins caravan camped the night it arrived in Peter’s Colony in 1844. James Lemmon is one of the few soldiers of the American Revolution buried in Texas, and the only one buried in Dallas County.

The Guyn family of Troy and Clover Bottom, is of pioneer stock. The head of the family in Woodford County was Robert Guyn who came early from Virginia and settled near Green's Mill and assisted in the building of Black's Station, or Fort, not far from Troy. He was a son of Robert Guyn of Virginia, but the maiden name of his mother and wife are not known by the present generation. He raised quite a family of children, the most of whom were girls.

Robert Gwin Sr. was buried in 1785 In loving memory of the Robert Gwin family who lived in this valley in the mid-1700s. Robert was appointed constable at the head of the Great Calf Pasture River in 1746. He served with Capt. William Preston's Company of Rangers in the French and Indian War 1756, and was awarded 50 acres for his service. Three of his sons (Capt David, Lt Joseph, and Samuel Gwinn Sr) served in the Revolutionary War. His wife was Jane Kinkead.
