Birth30 September 1925Norman Harold Kirschbaum was born on 30 September 1925 at Minnesota.
He was the son of William Joseph Kirschbaum and Emma F. Sorg.
Death25 March 2011Norman Harold Kirschbaum died on 25 March 2011 at Riverside, California, at age 85 On March 25, 2011 we were saddened to lose our dear friend, Norman Kirschbaum, a resident of Desert Hot Springs.

Norman was a longtime, highly regarded drama instructor, costume and fine jewelry designer and craftsman. Born in Minneapolis, Minn., he studied Drama and Speech at the University of Minnesota before moving to California in 1962. From 1968 to 1984 he was the Chairman of Speech and Drama at Newark High School in Newark, Calif., and an Assistant Professor in the Drama Department at Ohlone College in Fremont, Calif. It was there that he was widely applauded by the community for the daringly dramatic and flamboyant flair of his many successful theatrical productions including: Hit The Deck, West Side Story, Oklahoma and Kismet.

He eventually retired to the desert valley he so cherished, discovering many new friends and activities. Although Norman passed away of congestive heart failure, his heart was big and brave.

His uncompromising, yet gentle manner of being an authentic and unique individual, his personal generosity, his limitless talents and his natural ability to instill his own wonderful enthusiasm in others, made him a teacher to all. He understood people, and with his perfect English, sense of humor and kind and gentle manner of expressing himself, he showed us how to be a better friend to others, a gift which will live on.

He is survived by a nephew in Minnesota and his loving married partner, Mr. Victor Kirschbaum. A private memorial service was held shortly after his passing and, befitting an artist who loved the theater, it was a "full house."
