Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am, Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Church of the Resurrection. Family will greet friends 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Friday, November 3, 2017 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery.

Sandy was born November 29, 1941 in East Dubuque, IL the daughter of Leo "Chris" and Ruth (Liddle) Montag. She married Florian Tigges, Jr. on April 28, 1962 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in East Dubuque.

Sandy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She was a member of Church of the Resurrection, TOPS, volunteered at the Arboretum, enjoyed knitting, reading, cross-stitch, gardening, sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.

Those left behind include her husband, Florian; children, Amy (Doug) Wagner of Asbury, Rob (Teresa) Tigges of Key West , Molly (Tom) Coyle of Sherrill, Jenny (Dave) Schrobilgen of Dubuque, Steve (Paula) Tigges of Marshfield, WI, and Susan (Steve) Swift of Monticello , and; 19 grandchildren, Doug, Tyler, Drew, Quinn Wagner, Nick, Tom, Trisha, Scott Tigges, Maggie, Carlee, Jolee, Arriana Coyle, Matt, Ben Schrobilgen, Lorna, Lainey, Will, Chris, Anabell Swift; one great-grandson, Henry; siblings, Kay (Mike) O'Toole, Kris Ann (Kevin) Strehlow, Tony (Collen) Montag, and Rick (Kristi) Montag; her in-laws, Barb (Chuck) Pruter, Bob (Pat) Tigges, Sharon Johannes, Jackie Tigges, Suzanne (Jim) Heinle, and Mary Montag.

Thomas John Montag died on 7 January 2014 at Dubuque, Iowa, at age 67 Thomas J. "Tom" Montag, Sr, 67, of Epworth, IA, formerly of East Dubuque, IL, passed away at 3:08 P/M, Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, IA, from complications of open heart surgery.

Friends may call from 1 P/M to 5 P/M, Sunday, January 12th, at the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, where a Memorial Service will be held at 4 P/M, with Rev. Dean Smith officiating. Military honors will be accorded by members of the Dubuque Marine Corps League.

Tom was born to Leo "Chris" Montag and Ruth Liddle on February 28, 1946, in Dubuque. He grew up in East Dubuque with his five siblings where he served as an Altar boy at St. Mary's Church through High School with continued service to age 27. He participated in the Boy Scouts, and at age 14, was the first Eagle Scout in the history of East Dubuque. Tom was a graduate of East Dubuque High School, class of 1964.

He served in the U S Navy after high school from 1964-1971. He was most proud of his service as a Navy Seal and amongst other honors was awarded the Purple Heart during his years of service.

He married Mary Hooks on December 16, 1967, in London, England.

He served as a Deputy Sheriff for Jo Daviess County, and upon moving to Scottsdale, AZ, he worked as the head of maintenance for Mark Taylor properties into retirement. He was an avid sportsman and golfer. He was also a master craftsman.

Surviving are his wife, Mary (Hooks) Montag; their children, Tammy (Bill Bakey) Montag, of Illinois, Tricia (Lawrence) Blaylock, of Arizona, Thomas (Sunshine) Montag, Jr, of Iowa, Terry (Sunshine) Montag, of Iowa; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his beloved dog, Pepper; his siblings, Sandy (Florian) Tigges, Kay (Mike) O'Toole, Anthony "Tony" (Colleen) Montag, Kris Ann (Kevin) Strehlow, and Rick (Kristi) Montag.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Montag, on April 7, 1999; his mother, Ruth Montag, March 7, 1973; his brother, Michael Montag, in 1946; a son, Troy A. Montag, on October 14, 1974.
