In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials in memory of Dana.

Dana Dean Klemme was born July 21, 1983 in Akron, Iowa, the son of Daniel, Sr. and Mona (Moriston) Klemme. He attended school in Akron. Following his schooling, he lived in Colorado for a short time working as a carpenter. After moving back to the area, he made his home near Ireton, Iowa and Akron, working various jobs.

Dana loved the outdoors, especially fishing, camping, and hiking. He also enjoyed working on cars. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his mother: Mona Brice of North Sioux City, SD; his father: Daniel Klemme, Sr. of Akron; his brother: Daniel Klemme (special friend, Gretchen Murner) of Vermillion, SD; his sisters: Cheyenne Brice of North Sioux City, SD, and Beth (Ray) Reeves of Atlanta, GA; his paternal grandmother: Arlene Klemme of Akron; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Charles and Esther Moriston; his paternal grandfather: Dale Klemme; a nephew: Evan Klemme; and his uncle: Kelly Moriston.

Gordon was born in Hawarden, IA, on February 12, 1922 to Roy and Selma (Ball) Swanson. After serving in the Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater, Gordon came home to Sioux City and met the love of his life, Ella Popken. Ella and Gordon were married on April 15, 1950 at Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a well-liked and prominent businessman in Sioux City. He started as a junior partner and then became the senior partner of the Shipway and Swanson accounting firm and was subsequently the senior partner of Swanson and Gaffey, retiring in 1997 at the age of 75. Gordon, with his wife Ella, was very involved with many organizations and clubs in the Sioux City area including being a 33rd degree Mason with the Tyrian Lodge, and president and secretary the Sioux City Kiwanis Club. He was a member of the Consistory, Shriners, the Iris Society, Sioux City Ambassadors, the School Board, and the Airport Board. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, dancing with his Ella, traveling to all the national parks and abroad.
Preceding him in death were his parents. He is survived by his wife Ella, sons Craig and Scott (Kat), granddaughter Erica (Will) Hancock and great grandson Jaxson.

Steven Gerald Westhoff was born Aug. 20, 1961 in Akron, the son of Gerald and Delores (Rozell) Westhoff. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig. He attended school in Le Mars and graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1979.

Following high school, Steve work for Brangwin Construction in Le Mars. He also farmed part-time with his family. Later, he worked for Paul Meyer Construction in Ireton. After working there, he went to work for Koopman Construction in Ireton until he started farming fulltime. He also raised sheep and had pork production facilities with Wakefield Pork, Inc.

He married Lori Grosenheider on March 19, 1988. To this union, they had three children, Kylie, Hope, and Grace. They later divorced.

He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig where he had served on church council and volunteered with many church activities.

While in high school, he was active in F.F.A. He was a volunteer coach for his girls in Little League and soccer.

Through the years, Steve enjoyed playing softball. In his younger years, Steve played on the Craig Cubs Fast-pitch softball team. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and attending the rally in Sturgis. He also enjoyed playing golf and bowling.

He loved family holidays and get-togethers. But his greatest joy was spending time with his daughters.

Survivors include his daughters: Kylie Westhoff, Hope Westhoff, and Grace Westhoff, all at home; his parents: Gerald and Delores Westhoff of Le Mars; his sister: Cindy Klemme (Jerry Petersen) of Akron; his brother: Rick (Kris) Westhoff of Le Mars; nieces and nephews: his Godchild, Jessica (Clint) Hughes and their family, Makenzie and Brooklyn; Cassandra (Joel) Iseminger and their family, Cooper and Judd; Chance Klemme; Zachary (Jill) Westhoff and their family, Jarret, Ty, and baby due in July; his Godchild, John (Kristina) Westhoff and their son, Rory; Lee (Michelle) Westhoff and their family, Kent, Ella, and Max; and Erica Westhoff; special friends: Chris (Dalana) Grosenheider and their family, Luke, Toria, and Chase; and several uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: John and Dora Westhoff; his maternal grandparents: Art and Louise Rozell; his brother-in-law: Jeff Klemme; and his uncles: Arlan Oltmanns, Richard “Dick” Hartman, and LaRue Hansen.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig. The Rev. Lil Johnston will officiate. Burial will follow in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Craig. Visitation with the family present will be after 4 p.m., today (Tuesday), with a prayer service and time of Memory Sharing at 7 p.m., all at the church. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the church.

Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel-Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars.

The family prefers memorials to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and/or to the Le Mars Little League.
