On Sept. 1, 1944, he married the former Wilma L. Schneider. Jim was a lifelong area farmer. He enjoyed woodworking, farming, spending time with his family and telling a good story. He was very fond of animals and had a special love of horses. Jim was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a former member of the cemetery board. He had served as a board member of the Butterfield School; was a delegate for Wisconsin Dairies; a committee member for the Sauk County A.S.C.S; a board member of the Centrol Co-op in Sauk City; past president of the Richland Equity Livestock Association and a board member and past president of the Reedsburg Equity Co-op, which later became the R & L Co-op.

Bee was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Madison, the Naomi church circle, the OTA (Older Than Average) at church, St. John's Lutheran Church Women, a Sunday school teacher, and helped with the kitchen. She enjoyed traveling and toured with the Wisconsin Outers Tour Group. Bee is survived by two daughters, Janice Diane (Edward) Rose of Smithfield, N.C., and Gerri B. (Terry) Lee of Madison; grandsons, Lt. Col. Randy E. (Sheila) Rose, U.S.A.F. of Warrensburg, Mo., Lt. Col. Scott A. (Terry) Rose, U.S.A.F. of Colorado Springs, Colo., David L. (Julie) Rose of Pine Level, N.C., and April R. (Travis) Holler of Blue Mounds; four great-grandchildren, Laura, Taylor, Austin and Andrew Rose; siblings, Russ (Ella) Bryan, Glee Tourdot and Jean (Rev. Robert) Mattke; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Emil Lemke; her parents; and siblings, Lyle Bryan, Alvin Bryan, Clara Bonham, Hazel Lodde, Alma Humphrey and Evan Bryan. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, with Pastor Ken Smith presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.

He was employed by Badger Ordnance for the last 25 years as a carpenter. Russell proudly served in WWII in Naval Aviation. He was a member of the local American Legion Post 26 and Badger Steam and Gas Club; as well as a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Baraboo. Russell greatly enjoyed making miniature hot air engines and was proud to display them at the Badger Steam and Gas Show. He was also a talented woodworker. He enjoyed traveling, and visited almost every state in the union. Russell was very close to his two granddaughters and loved spending time with his five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lillian in 2006; siblings, Lyle, Evan, Al, Hazel, Alma, Clara, Jean and Bea. Russell is survived by his son, Michael (Denise) Bryan of Baraboo; grandchildren, Lori (Conor) Smyth of Madison and Wendy (Jeff) McNabb of Baraboo; great-grandchildren, Lydia and Max McNabb, Sophia, Garrett and Eamon Smyth; sister, Glee Tourdot of Reedsburg; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 17 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Baraboo with Pastor Thomas Fricke officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Burial will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery where military rites will be conducted. Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
