Mrs. Ellery was born May 3, 1920, in Viola, a daughter of the late Clyde and Alice Savacool.

She received a degree in nursing from Evanston School of Nursing.

She served in England during World War II, where she met her husband.

She was married to John B. "Jack" Ellery.

They came to UW-SP in 1968 when he became the chief assistant to Chancellor Lee S. Dreyfus, also serving as acting dean of the College of Applied Arts and Sciences, the first dean of the College of Natural Resources, vice chancellor from 1974 to 1980, and acting chancellor from 1978 to 1979.

She spent the last 20 years of her career teaching in the LPN program at Mid State Technical College in Stevens Point.

She retired with her husband to the Stoughton area in 1982.

Survivors include four daughters, Thea (Joseph) Bruce, Martha (Andrew) Ellery, Sarah (Odom) Williams, and Jessica (David) Ritter; one son, John B. Jr. (Elizabeth Jones); and 10 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Janet and Anna; two brothers, Kenneth and David Savacool; and one granddaughter.
