Marriage3 April 1948Delmar E. Winter married Geraldine Althouse on 3 April 1948.
Death10 September 2013Delmar E. Winter died on 10 September 2013 at age 88 Delmar E. Winter passed away on September 10, 2013, at the age of 88, gallantly fighting one health battle after another, never giving up until God said it's time.

He was born in Yankton, South Dakota on July 14, 1925 to Emil and Alma Winter, the eldest of 4 children. In the late thirties they moved to Bakersfield, then on to Porterville in the early forties. Delmar graduated from Porterville High School. He was a member of the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II. Upon returning from the war he attended Porterville College where he met the love of his life, Geraldine Althouse, whom he married on April 3, 1948. They had one daughter, Karyl, and lived in Porterville, until 1958 when they moved to Corcoran.

Delmar worked in retail auto parts, owing his own store. After his retirement, they moved to Visalia to be closer to their grandchildren. In his younger years you could find Delmar and Gerri out on the Square Dance floor twirling away. Then it was the bowling alley. At family gatherings there was always a good card game going on. His true joy was becoming a grandpa He never missed a soccer, little league, or softball game. He was so proud to see the pictures of his three grandchildren receive their Bachelor's Degrees, the youngest one this June. Delmar had a heart of gold and would help anyone when they needed it. His sense of humor will greatly be missed. Even through his pain, he never lost his humor.

Delmar was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Alma Winter, and sister, Sally Miles.

He is survived by his wife Geraldine (Gerri) of 65 years of Visalia, his daughter Karyl Johnson (Roger) of Visalia, grandson Joshua Johnson of Fresno, granddaughter Kari Johnson of Visalia, granddaughter Kacie Johnson, of Davis, CA brother Robert Winter of Sierra Vista, AZ, and brother Ronald Winter (Cindy) of Madera.
