Christianson died on 20 June 2012 at Madison, Dane, Wisconsin, at age 62 William "Bill" Christianson, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the VA Hospice in Madison at the age of 62 with his loving wife by his side after a long battle with Agent Orange-related cancer. Bill, the son of the late William George and Arlene (Horstmann) Christianson-Giebel, was born June 17, 1950 in Reedsburg. On Sept 1, 1985, he was united in marriage to Jo Barker in Baraboo. Bill had been employed by the UW-Baraboo/Sauk County campus until he became disabled.

Bill was a member of several veterans organzations, belonging to the Disabled American Veterans Chaptr 8, the North Freedom American Legion Post 172 and a life member at large of the Vietnam Veterans of America. He was the most active with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7694 in Prairie de Sac, where he served as commander for a number of years. Last summer he was proud to have been appointed District 11 Commander for the Wisconsin State VFW until failing health forced him to resign.

Bill was also an avid fisherman and hunter and was active in the Delton Sportsmen's Club, the Sportmen's Alliance and the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by two sisters, Donna Zautke and June Schrank; and his nephew, Joey Holloway.

He is survived by his wife, Jo; his children, Heather (Mike) Lesch, Jamie christianson and Kimbra Berry; grandchildren, Lili Christianson and Isla McConnell; siblings, Carolyn Rhinehart, Shirley (Allen) Holloway, Rosalie (Mike) Bredeck and Sandy Klinge; sisters-in-law, Ann Manley and Susan Van Rixel; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Private inurnment will take place at St Joh's Cemetery in Rock Springs where military rites will be conducted.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; her children, Judy (Paul) Spoerl of Greenville, Barbara (Scott) Breunig of Prairie du Sac, Brenda (Bryan) Schwarz of North Freedom and Brian (Janet) Rau of Madison; and her grandchildren, Jessica, Jordan, Allison and Katelyn. She is also survived by her brothers, Lloyd (Marion) Ballweg, George (Illa) Ballweg, Eugene (Winnie) Ballweg and Jerry Ballweg; and her sisters, Louise (Eugene) Theis, Elaine (Larry) Adler and Jo (Bill) Hart. Florence was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Stanley Ballweg. The family wishes to give their very special thanks to the care givers at Meriter Hospital for their kindness and compassion in Florence’s final days. As a couple they enjoyed their trips off the farm to Branson, MO. Winnie stayed at home to raise the boys until later when she worked tending bar at the Penguin, The Arboretum and in the kitchen at Hardees. Winnie also enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and shooting pool.

Survivors include her husband Gene, sons, Jeff, Joe (Karen), Jim (Sara), grandchildren, Chris, Katelyn (Troy), Ryan, Kelsie (Christopher), Connor and Alex. Great grandchildren, Elizabeth and David. She is further survived by siblings, Carl, Tim, Nick (Chris), Fred (Diana) and Vicky, Sister in law Marilyn. In-Laws Marion, George (Ila Rae), Louise (Eugene), Elaine (Larry), Jerry, Jo (Bill) and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Bill and Pete, in-laws Lloyd, Stanley, Florence (Bob) and grandson Andrew.

In 1947, they moved to La Crosse, where Joseph worked for 12 years for Chicago Northwestern Railroad. He then worked for NorPlex as a shear operator until he retired. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the Eagle's Club, La Crosse. Joseph is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elsie of La Crosse; daughter, Kathryn Bailey of La Crosse; sons, William (Joanne) Bailey of La Crescent, Minn., Robert (Elizabeth) Bailey of La Crosse, Harold Bailey of Sparta, Wis., and Douglas (Connie) Bailey of Onalaska; daughter-in-law, Joan Bailey of Phoenix; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; one step-grandson; five step-great-grandchildren; and brother, Nelson E. Bailey of Reedsburg. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Donald Earl Bailey. Funeral services were held Dec. 6 at Wesley United Methodist Church, La Crosse, with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery, LaValle, Wis. The family would like to thank the staff of Gundersen Lutheran Hospice.

After marriage they lived in Sparta. He worked at Northern Engraving for 15 years. He liked Eagles, Wolves, camping, fishing, and football.

He is survived by his wife, Susan of Sparta; two sons, Patrick Bailey of Sparta, John Bailey of Sparta; six grandchildren; a sister, Katherine Bailey of La Crosse; three brothers, Doug (Connie) Bailey of Onalaska, William (Joanne) Bailey of LaCrescent, MN, and Robert (Betty) Bailey of La Crosse.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Donald.

Graveside funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Farmers Valley Cemetery, rural Sparta with Reverend David Carlson officiating. Burial will be in the Farmers Valley Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
