He was born at home on December 15, 1935, in Franklin Township, Sauk County, Wisconsin; the same home in which he passed away. Ken was the son of George Jr., and Florence (Volk) Schutz. He attended grades one through eight at a one room rural school and graduated from Reedsburg High School in 1954. Ken proudly served his country in the US Army from 1955 until 1958 and was stationed in Germany for 2 ½ years. On November 26, 1960, Ken was united in marriage to Eileen Carroll at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Reedsburg. This marriage of 51 years was blessed with six children. Ken farmed his family’s farm in rural Loganville for many years. He was a hard-working man of integrity, had a deep faith in God and honored family values. He was a loving father, grandfather and husband. Ken was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Loreto, the Reedsburg Knight’s of Columbus, and the Plain American Legion Post.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Merita Schrank and husband, Roland,

Ken is survived by his wife, Eileen;

Rachel and Troy Brunner of Loganville,

Robert and Gail Schutz of Loganville,

Roberta and Brian Ahlrichs of Anamosa, IA,

Brothers and sisters and their spouses: Delbert and Alice Schutz of Waunakee,

Madonna and Michael Connor of Packwaukee,

Maxine and Allyn Bauer of Madison,

Marilynn and Ron Rebman of Oregon,

Connie and Eugene Krayer of Reedsburg;

and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends.

We honor Kenneth’s life with a memorial service on Friday, March 16, 2012, at 11:00 AM in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Loreto, with Father Lorin Bowens officiating. Burial will follow in Our Lady of the Field Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Loreto, where a Knights of Columbus Rosary will be prayed at 4:00. Visitation will continue on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church or the Alzheimers and Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin in lieu of flowers.

The Farber Funeral Home, Reedsburg, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

His cries from pain were heard by the neighbors. Dr. Skiff, Hulburt and Kordenat were summoned, who rendered all assistance medical skill could give, but all to no avail. He died Thursday and was buried on Sunday. A large number of friends were present to attend the funeral obsequies. He was well and favorably known and commanded the respect of all who knew him. Cause of death was a strangulated hernia.

He was preceded in death by his wife in January of this year. Funeral services were held in St John's Lutheran church in Rock Springs and burial was in the church cemetery.
