A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Plain. Fr. Mike Resop will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home in Spring Green from 4:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. and again on Thursday at St. Luke’s Catholic Church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. Luke’s School Endowment Fund. The Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home in Spring Green is assisting the family with arrangements.

Marion was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and St. Luke’s Catholic Church. Marion was born on Flag Day and would comment that it was nice of people to fly the flag for her birthday. She enjoyed music and played many instruments. She played in a band in her younger years. She played the organ at St. Luke’s as a substitute into her 90’s. She was an accomplished piano player also teaching piano in her younger years. She enjoyed sewing, making rosaries and her geraniums of which Shanna Helena were her favorite. Survivors include, 4 children, Jan (Mary Kay) Riek of Madison, Douglas (Elfi) Riek of Brookfield, Lynn Rae Leigel of Deerfield, Deb Liegel Bindl (Clif) Cavanaugh of Spring Green, a daughter-in-law, Helen Riek of Russellville, Arkansas, 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 3 sisters-in-law, Marian Riek, JoAnn Magli and Mary Anne Liegel, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Clement Riek and John “Jack” Liegel, 3 brothers, Dan, John and Bill Magli, and a son, Anthony “Clem” Riek. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Plain. Fr. Mike Resop will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Catholic Church. He was born on June 5, 1942, in Springfield Corners, the son of John and Beulah (Voelkel) Niesen. Gene was united in marriage to Betty Frey on Feb. 1, 1964, at St. Norbert Catholic Church, Roxbury. He was employed as a carpenter for most of his life. He was a member of the Vintage Garden Tractor Club of America, The Badger Steam and Gas Engine Club, and the White Lightning Snowmobile Club. Gene enjoyed woodworking, craft fairs, snowmobiling, boating, hunting, winemaking and restoring and collecting vintage garden tractors. He especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren, family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Betty; three children, Ken (Sue), Tracy (Brian) Breunig, and Jerry (Michelle); five grandchildren, Dustin Niesen, Evan and Kalyn Schmit, Leanna and Malea Niesen; three step-grandchildren: Zachary, Brianna, and Brett; a brother, John (Linda); three sisters, Karen Smyth, Joan (Jack) Straus and Joyce (Ron) Brown. Further survived by nieces nephews other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Duane; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Norbert and Laura Frey and a brother-in-law, Bob Frey. The family would like to give a special thank you to everyone that offered support, care, visits to Gene and his family during his illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at ST. NORBERT CATHOLIC CHURCH, Roxbury with Father John Blewett officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2012, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City, and also at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
