A marriage license was issued at the court house Friday to Alvin Klemme and Ann Heeren of Le Mars.

Death8 August 2002Anna Heeren died on 8 August 2002 at age 89 LE MARS, Iowa -- Anna C. Klemme, 89, of Le Mars died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Christ Lutheran Church, Grant Township, rural Le Mars, with the Rev. Peter Boe officiating. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Saturday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m, all at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Anna Catherine Heeren was born May 22, 1913, at home in Grant Township, to Herman and Meta (VonHagel) Heeren. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Christ Lutheran Church. She attended country schools in Plymouth County, Iowa, and graduated from Le Mars Central High School. Following high school, she attended and graduated from Western Union College in Le Mars, with a teaching degree. She taught country school in Grant Township until her marriage.

She married Alvin Klemme on June 23, 1938. The couple farmed until their retirement in 1975 and moved into Le Mars.

She was active in her church, where she served as organist, choir director, Sunday School teacher and a member of the women's circle for many years. She loved her family and helping others. She enjoyed music and gardening.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Alvin; two sons and their wives, Ralph and Karen Klemme of Le Mars and Gerald and Susan Klemme of Le Mars; a daughter and her husband, Geraldine and Bob Brown of Holstein, Iowa; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Helen Ahrendt and Clara Klemme; a brother, Norman Heeren; and an infant granddaughter, Cynthia Sue Klemme.

Pallbearers will be Kevin, Russell, Kent, Brad and Neil Klemme, Jason and Jim Brown, Dave Grenier and Phil Gates. Honorary pallbearers will be Arlan Heeren, Paul Ahrendt, Duane Popken, Scott, Jim, Gaynor and Robin Klemme and Allen Rohlfs.

Mr. Heeren was horn Jan. 27, 1884, in Grant township. He was a lifelong resident of that township and a retired farmer. His marriage to Meta Wilhelmina Von Hagel took place in Grant township Oct. 13,1910. She preceded him in death. His parents were the late William: and Anna (Johnsen) Heeren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Christ Lutheran church, Grant township. Burial, will be in Christ Lutheran cemetery under direction of the Matter funeral home. A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Rev. Robert Reitz will officiate.

Survivors are a son, Norman of Le Mars; three daughters, Mrs. Henry (Helen) Ahrendt and Mrs. Alvin (Anna) Klemme, both of Le Mars, and Mrs. Walter; (Clara) Klemme of Akron; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Baack of Howard, S.D., and Mrs. of Grath, Conova, S.D; a brother Albert Heeren, rural Le Mars eight grandchildren and six. great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death his parents, wife, three brothers and two sisters.'; Mr. Heeren was a member of Christ Lutheran church, Grant Township.

John was united in marriage to Karen Geyman on Jan. 8, 1966, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Baraboo. He had been employed by Seneca Foods as an Inspector in Quality Control for 35 years before retiring in October 2001. John was a dedicated, active member of his church, serving as a Eucharistic Minister and Sacristan, belonging to the Monsignor O'Reilly Council No. 746 Knights of Columbus, the Legion of Mary, and the Brothers of Pius X, and was a proud and loyal friend to the 12 Step Recovery Community, where he had sponsored many individuals. He was also a member of Baraboo American Legion Post No. 26. John lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed gardening and will be lovingly remembered for his great sense of humor and love of adventure. John will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. He is survived by his wife, Karen Alvin of North Freedom; three children, Mary (Leo) LaVigne of Wisconsin Dells, Bob Alvin of Wisconsin Dells, and Jason (fiancé, Laura Carroll) Alvin of Madison; four grandchildren, Jordan, Sean, Jennifer, and Hunter; two sisters, Mary Hart of Waupaca, and Eileen (Ross) Ewers of Donohue, Iowa; his brother, Mike (Marie) Alvin of Illinois; his mother-in-law, Betty Geyman of Baraboo; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Theresa and Elizabeth; and his father-in-law, Allan Geyman. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, at ST. JOSEPH'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, in Baraboo, with Father Delbert Klink and Deacon Ron Pickar co-officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday, June 27, 2006, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the REDLIN FUNERAL HOME, 401 Madison Ave., in Baraboo, and at the church on Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery where military rites will be provided.
