A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 12, 2012 for Father Lawrence Marbach at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yankton, SD. The Most Reverend Paul J. Swain, Bishop, of Sioux Falls, SD will preside at the Mass. Father Marbach’s cousin, Reverend Jerome Ranek, will offer the homily. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Yankton, SD. Visitations will begin at 5:00 p.m. Sunday evening with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. followed by a liturgical scripture service at 7:30 PM. The Knights of Columbus will provide the honor guard. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers are: Don Marbach, Joe Marbach, Ron Marbach, Ray Marbach, Mark Marbach, Larry Murphy and Mark East. Fr. Lawrence was born in Yankton, SD on May 28, 1926 to Joseph and Marie (Mader) Marbach and raised in Yankton, SD. He attended Sacred Heart Grade School and Yankton High School. Seminary training began at St. Bernard Seminary of Sioux Falls, SD, St. John’s University, Collegeville, MN and St. Paul Seminary in St. Paul, MN for six years. Upon completing the seminary course, he was ordained into the priesthood at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Yankton, SD on May 31, 1952 by the Most Reverend William O. Brady, Bishop of Sioux Falls, SD. Upon his ordination, Father Marbach served as an associate pastor at the parishes of Saint Agnes, Vermillion and Saint Thomas More, Brookings. In 1958 he was appointed pastor and served in the parishes of Saint Pius X, Onida, Holy Rosary, Agar, and Holy Spirit, Blunt. Father Marbach went on to serve as pastor at the parishes of Immaculate Conception, Waubay, Saint Paul the Apostle, Armour, Saint Ann, Miller, Christ the King, Webster, Saint Anthony, Bristol, Saint Joseph, Lily, Saint Michael, Clark, and Saint James, Willow Lake-Bryant. In June of 1996, Father Marbach retired from active ministry. After completing his assignments and while living in the Yankton area, Father Marbach offered priestly ministry to the infirmed at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital and its related facilities as well as to the imprisoned at the Yankton Federal Prison Camp. Father Marbach was also active in providing substitute Sunday Mass coverage to surrounding parishes and, with great regularity, provided pastoral ministry to the faithful of Saint Agnes Parish (Sigel) in rural Utica, and House of Mary Shrine. This past year, Father Marbach was joined by two ordination classmates, Reverend Charles Duman and Monsignor Carlton Hermann, in celebrating their sixtieth anniversary of ordination to the priesthood at a celebration held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Yankton. Father Marbach had two passions in his life: automobiles and priesthood. He is survived by his two brothers: Don Marbach, Yankton, SD and Jerome “Joe” (Jody) Marbach, Pierre, SD; nephew, Mark Marbach and children: Nicholas and Emily Marbach, Pierre, SD; niece, Nancy (Mark) East, and children: Caiden and Cody, Sioux Falls, SD, cousins: Jeanne (John) Ranek, Sioux Falls, SD and their family and grandchildren, Howard (Mary) Bechen, Letcher, SD, Edward (Joyce) Bechen, Artesian, SD, Raymond (Janet) Marbach, Manchester, IA, Ronald (Marjean) Marbach, Dyersville, IA, William Killingsworth, Florida, Bradley Killingsworth, Bolivia, William (Donna) Grovijahn, Yankton, SD, Agnes Grovijahn, Yankton, SD, Delores Donovan, Columbia, MO, Robert (Mary) Grovijahn, Billings, MT, many nieces and nephews, and special friend, Robert Ritter, Brookings, SD. Visitation will be held at the Chapel this evening from 8 p.m.-10 p.m. Davenport's Chapel of the Good Shepherd, directors, is in charge of the arrangements.
Patsy was born January 7, 1941, in Evanston, WY to her parents: Gene Pershing Miller and the former Ila Rose Kiddy. They preceded her in death.
She worked as a bookkeeper for about 15 years and raised her 3 children, twins Emie and Eily and their sister: Jerri. Patsy was a member of the VFW and the Eagles Lodge. She lived in Klamath Falls for a number of years prior to moving to Fort Lewis in 2001 due to health challenges.
Patsy's loves include Coke-A-Cola, popcorn and hard candy, Humming Birds, Best Friend-her cat, Czarina and especially loved all children, when they were still young enough to "Not talk back"! She was an avid reader, loved Word Search Game Books, working picture puzzles and attended many, many Pow-Wows.
Patsy is survived by her children: Emie Dunlea, Noti, OR; Eily and Carl Lamoureux, Klamath Falls, OR; and Jerri and Steve Wyman, Noti, Or; grandchildren: Rachael M. Real, Angel M. Lane, Cyle J. Lamoureux, Tyler A. Lane, Raymond S. Wyman, Tanner A. Hill-Dunlea, Levi b. Wyman and Matthew M. Lamoureux; great-grandchildren: Melisa L. Miranda, Skyler A. Lane and Carmen M. Rexroad; sister and husband: Jeanie and Barry Cogdill, Fort Lewis, WA; nephews and wife: Gene and Tasha Cogdill, Fort Riley, KS and Jeffrey Cogdill, Fort Lewis, WA. Many very special friends including Bessie Smith, Cam Alverez, Dennis and Marilyn DePuy, John and Laura Grey and Jeannine Cogdill.
