Gehrke died on 4 February 2011 at age 93 Elsie (Gehrke) Young, age 93, of Little Chute, formerly of Reedsburg, died on Friday, February 4, 2011 at American Grand Assisted Living in Kaukauna. She was born on July 11, 1917 in the Township of Franklin, Sauk County, the daughter of Frank and Minnie (Spohnholtz) Gehrke. Elsie was a graduate of Reedsburg High School and the Sauk County Normal School. She was then a teacher in Sauk County. On May 13, 1942 she was married to Everett Young. She worked at Kroger's for twenty years and then in the dietary department at the Reedsburg Memorial Hospital for ten years until her retirement. Elsie was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church in Reedsburg and later at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Appleton. She enjoyed embroidery, baking, reading and was an avid Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers fan. Elsie's life was wrapped around her family. She attended sporting events, recitals, concerts, awards ceremonies and numerous family gatherings. Survivors include two children: Beverly (Bob) Church, of Little Chute and LeRoy (Jan) Young, of West Bend; six grandchildren: Becky (Jeff) Brandt of Minneapolis; Barb (Craig) Frenette, of Chippewa Falls; Kyle (Ross) Zautner, of West Bend; Lee (Tanya) Young, of Appleton; David and Bradley Young, of West Bend; ten great grandchildren: Ryan and Jenna Brandt; Kaylee, Isaac, Addison, Austin and Matthew Frenette; Madeline and Laura Zautner; and Lacey Young; sisters and brothers-in-law: Marlene Gehrke, of Reedsburg; Mary Leonard, of DeForest; Ellen Young, of Plain; Clarence (Teresa) Young, of Plain and Victor (Sharon) Young, of Pewaukee; a special nephew: Marvin (Ardis) Martin, of Salem, Oregon; a special niece: Dorothy (Hofer) Johnson, of Bradenton, Florida and numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett, on April 5, 1994; her parents; her brothers: Eddie (Edna) Hofer and Ervin Gehrke; her sisters: Ida (Norbert) Schulenburg and Amanda (Willie) Martin; and in-laws: Rev. Anthony Young; Valeria (Jim) Jefferson and Robert Young. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Reedsburg with Pastor David Glesne officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the church. The Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg is serving the family.
