Life EventDateDescription
Birth14 March 1831William Kroeger was born on 14 March 1831 at Vinstedt, Hanover, Germany.
He was the son of (?) Kroeger.
Marriage14 November 1861William Kroeger married Dorothea Schenk, daughter of Christian Schenk, on 14 November 1861.
Death15 August 1905William Kroeger died on 15 August 1905 at Loganville, Sauk, Wisconsin, at age 74 William Kroeger died at Loganville, August 15, and was buried in the cemetery at the Brandt church in the town of Washington, Aug. 18, 1905, Rev. Schilling officiating. Mr. Kroeger was born March 14, 1831, at Vinstedt, Hanover, Germany. He was married to Miss Dora Schenk at the same place Nov. 14, 1861 and seven years later emigrated to this country. He settled on a farm near the present village of Hillpoint and one year later bought the farm on which he since lived and which is known far and near as the "Butcher Kroeger Farm." Here he lived with his family until the fall of 1891 when he turned the place over to his only son, Ed Kroeger, and, with his wife moved into Loganville, since living the life of a retired farmer, enjoying good health until a short time before his death. He was the father of six children, all of whom are living and grown. They are: Anna, Wife of Otto Goetsch of the town of Washington; Dora, wife of Henry Seiler of Madison; Mary, wife of William Wiese of the town of Washington; Lizzie, wife of Fred Weiman of Madison; Emma, wife of Ed Williams of Loganville and Ed, the only son, who lives on the homestead. His widow and all of their children except Mrs. Seiler were present at the funeral, she being at Portland, Ore., and could not reach here in time. Not withstanding the busy season for the farmers and the rough condition of the roads and the long drive to the cemetery, a large number of friends and neighbors followed the remains to their last resting place. Those present from a distance besides the children were: Mrs. Margaret Verthein, a sister of the deceased, of Madison; Mr. Fred Schenk of Madison, a brother of Mrs. Kroeger and Mrs. Henry Reil of Middleton, Wis.
