She was 97 years old. Della was born near Baraboo on January 7, 1912, daughter of Roy and Anna Carpenter Traxler. She was joined with her husband Harvey K. Davis during a Thanksgiving Day wedding ceremony many years ago. The couple lived in Milwaukee and Baraboo. Harvey preceded Della in death in October 19, 1988. Following his death Mrs. Davis moved to Port Washington to be closer to her family. Della was known as a fun and social lady. She attributed some of her longevity to her habit of drinking two highballs before dinner until she entered the Heritage facility. She also enjoyed playing poker and bingo. Della is survived by her son-in-law Donald (the late Arlene) Blakeslee of Port Washington, as well as 2 grandchildren: Kari (Dave Sparks) Stelzl of Port Washington and Scott (Colleen) Blakeslee of Jackson. She is further survived by 1 great-grandson, Jacob Stelzl of Port Washington, her sister Freda Zacharenka of Milwaukee, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Harvey , daughter Arlene, and 2 brothers: Duane and Edwin Traxler. Graveside services will be held at Fairfield Cemetery near Baraboo on Wednesday, December 23. The family wishes to thank all of the Heritage staff for their wonderful care of Della these last three years.

PORT WASHINGTON - Della (nee Traxler) Davis, peacefully passed away in her sleep on Dec. 20, 2009 in Port Washington. Della was a homemaker in the Baraboo,

Milwaukee and Port Washington areas. She loved getting together with family and friends to socialize and play cards. The secret to her longevity was two highballs before dinner.

Della is survived by her best friend and sister, Freda Zacharenka; her son in-in-law, Donald Blakeslee; two grandchildren, Scott (Colleen) Blakeslee and Kari Stelzl (Dave Sparks); and her beloved great-grandson, Jacob Stelzl.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Davis; her daughter, Arlene Blakeslee; and two brothers, Duane and Edwin.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at the Fairfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Autism Awareness Society. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
