Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and five sisters, Ella Herritz, Irma Herritz, Emma Moore, Sena Bloedau, and Gertrude Klukas. She is survived by her son, Melvin (Jean) Albers of Madison, one grandson, James Albers of Overland Park, Kansas, and two great-grand-daughters, Nicole Albers, Belton, Missouri, and Courtney Albers, Kansas City, Missouri, a special nephew, Virgil (Elaine) Herritz of Madison, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mabel A. Albers will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2002 at the Hoof Funeral Home, 312 North Park Street, Reedsburg, with Pastor Tod Vertz officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, North Freedom. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. at the Hoof Funeral Home on Friday, November 8. Memorials of remembrance may be made to the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Edward Snyder Memorial Home. The Hoof Funeral Home is serving the family.

He was born on May 11, 1927 in Excelsior Township, Sauk County, the son of Herman and Mabel (Klukas) Albers. Melvin graduated from Reedsburg High School in 1945. He farmed with his parents in the Town of Excelsior. On June 11, 1947, he married Jean M. Giles at St. John's Lutheran Church in Rock Springs. They were married for 68 years. Their marriage was blessed with one son, James (Jim). Melvin was a park ranger at Devils Lake State Park, then a jailer/dispatcher for the Sauk County Sheriff's Department. He was the first Sauk County Planning and Zoning Administrator. He then became a Planning Analyst for the State of WI (Department of Natural Resources), during which time he was appointed as liaison for the WI Coastal Management Program. He then worked as a Security Officer for Sam's Club in Madison and Human Resources Director for the Baraboo Wal-Mart. Together with his wife, Jean, they became owners of the Winfield Homestead Farm which dates back to 1848. Melvin and Jean completed an original watershed management project which was initiated by Jean's parents in 1938. The Homestead was restored to native prairie, riparian wetlands and wildlife habitat by planting thousands of trees and wildlife food patches to establish the current Tree Farm. Mel's most noteworthy interest was the restoration and showing of antique and classic tractors. He was a lifetime member of the Badger Steam and Gas Engine Club. He also enjoyed biking on WI and MN trails, skiing in Northern WI, woodworking, painting, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law: Arlow and Hazel Giles. He is survived by his wife, Jean; son: James (Karen) Albers, of Verona; grandchildren: Nicole Albers, of Eldora, KS; Courtney (BJ) Richter and their children, Frederick and Grant, of Kansas City, MO; step-grandchildren: Jeremy (Rebecca) Olson and their children, Ana and Sariya, of Madison; Marisa Braun and her son, Elliot, of Madison; brother and sister-in-law: Duane (Carolyn) Giles, of Rhinelander; a special cousin: Virgil (Elaine) Herritz, of Madison; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Reedsburg with Pastor Dominic Guido officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg and on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church or the Reedsburg Area Medical Center Foundation LTD. The Hoof Funeral Home is serving the family.

MR. AND MRS. FRANK DARRENOUGUE. Mr. Frank DARRENOUGUE, son of John and Mary (LASSELLETTE) DARRENOUGUE, was born Jan. 21, 1861, in Estialisq, Lower Pyrenees, France. His father was born in Idois, France, in 1815, and went thence to Estialisq, where he lived and died, May 1903. His wife, whom he married in Estialisq was born near there about 1820, and died two miles from the place of her birth, in 1895. They had eight children, three of whom, Augusta and Max, besides our subject, came to reside in America. Frank D. came in the spring of 1878, arriving in Reedsburg, May 2. Immediately upon his arrival here he was taken into his bother Augusta's jewelry and barber establishment, and remained so engaged until the fall of 1882. At that time he purchased a similar establishment of the city from A. W. COUGHRAN (Oct. 23), which was in his present site of business. Since that date Mr. DARRENOUGUE has been in the jewelry business, in this place, and his is the oldest continuous business in the city today.
On May 2, 1888, he was married to Katherine BUELOW. This lady was born in Reedsburg, July 20, 1863, daughter of Edward and Bedelia (HOOBEN) BUELOW. Her father, a native of Pomaul, Germ., was born Feb. 28, 1830, son of Fredrick BUELOW. In 1851, in company with his father's family (the mother having passed on previously) he came to America, locating in Reedsburg, where he afterward resided . He was a prosperous farmer outside the city, and died at the ripe old age of 87, ____, 1917. His wife, who he married in 1856, was born March 29, 1840, in County Galway, Ireland, daughter of John and Margaret HOOBEN. The father died there, and in 1847 the mother brought her family to America, locating in the Sligo settlement in Dellona, where she shortly afterward died. Belelia grew up in Dellona, and resided there until her marriage. She died Dec. 29, 1890.
Our subjects have four children: Evan John, born Feb. 17, 1890, now of Chicago; Madeline, born Oct. 14, 1891 (now wife of Lunn H. FAVILLE, Galesville, Wis., she has two children, Ruth, born May 9, 1921, and Helen, born Sept. 15, 1926; Raymond, born Sept. 9, 1898, now of New York City; and Thomas F., born Feb. 2, 1905, now of Grand Rapids, Wis.
