The daughter of Frank and Mary Uthe, she is survived by her husband, three sons: Leo, Riceville; Melvin, Dows; and Maynard, Rochester, Minnesota; five grandchildren; a sister, Miss Lena Uthe, Des Moines; and three brothers: John, Ames; Joe, Boone; Antone, Story City.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosemary, who was killed in an auto accident; and a son in infancy.

Helen Rose (Cooper) Uthe was born April 3, 1918, in Ames, to William and Anna (Pantenburg) Cooper.

She graduated from Napier School, attended cosmetology school and worked in Ames until she married Raymond H. Uthe Jan. 2, 1940. They farmed in Williams, Ellsworth and finally in Boone since 1956. She enjoyed reading and gardening.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond; two daughters, Colleen (Bernard) Anderson, of Kankakee, Ill., and Janet (Rex) Ramsay, of Des Moines; one son, Donald (Janice) Uthe, of Ames; six grandchildren, Lisa Ramsay, Katie Ramsay, Scott Uthe, Stacy Uthe, Stephanie Uthe and Kevin Uthe; and one great-grandson, Ryan Uthe.

three sisters, Marcella, Wilma and Darlene; and one brother, Robert.
