They moved to West Allis, where Mr. Aron was employed by Gateway Transportation Company for 22 years, retiring in 1966 to the Sauk Prairie area. Mr. Aron was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, and a member of the Holy Name Society and the Knight of Columbus. Survivors include his wife, Agnes of Prairie du Sac; a son and daughter in law, Ervin and Myrtle Halverson of Milwaukee; three grandchildren; a brother Henry Aron of Sauk County; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Liegel of Plain, Mrs. Alma Huggins of Sauk City, and Mrs. Emma Kowalke of Baraboo; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at the Gnewikow-Schwoegler-Zimmermann Funeral Home, Sauk City, at 10:30 a.m. and at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 1, with Father Joseph Cox officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28, at the funeral home where a scripture service will be held at 7: 30 p.m.

In 1972, she married Rod Huggins, who preceded her in death. Alma enjoyed a full life and lived independently until November 2004. Survivors include nieces; nephews; a step-daughter-in-law; step-grandchildren; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Caroline Aron; brothers, Walter (Agnes), Henry (Allie), Len (Loretta); and sisters, Anna (Albert) Schwartz, Mae (Walter)Liegel, Nell and Emma (Clarence) Bettinger. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2005, at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE, 401 S. Owen Drive, Madison. Private interment will be at Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum.

John J. Engelke died on 29 April 2009 at Iowa at age 87 Funeral services for John Engelke, 87, of Sutherland, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland. Rev. LeRoy Riemer will officiate the service.
Visitation will begin after 11 a.m. Friday with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at the Warner Funeral Home in Sutherland.

Interment will take place in Waterman Cemetery in Sutherland. Military services will be conducted by American Legion Post No. 152 of Sutherland.

Following the graveside service, there will be lunch served at the Legion Hall in Sutherland.

Mr. Engelke passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Sioux City.

John J. Engelke, the son of William D. and Emma Meyer Engelke, was born May 11, 1921, in Sutherland. His childhood years were spent in the Calumet area, where he received his education, graduating from Calumet High School. Following his schooling, he entered into the military and served with the U.S. Navy as a Flight Engineer 2nd Class from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946.

John married Marjory Ginger on July 10, 1948, in Sutherland. Following their marriage, they lived in Sutherland, where they farmed for many years. John also owned and operated his own sand and gravel business in his later years. John was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau and American Legion Post No. 152 of Sutherland.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald Engelke; and a grandchild.

John is survived by his wife, Marjory of Sutherland; his children: Brian "Butch" Engelke and his wife, Betty, Bonnie Rohrs and her husband, David and Bruce Engelke -- all of Sutherland; six grandchildren; one sister, Elva Dau of Hartley; and a brother, Robert Engelke of Paullina.

Warner Funeral Home of Sutherland is in charge of arrangements.
