Death5 April 1920Arnold Joseph Langkamp died on 5 April 1920 at age 19 YOUNG MAN DIES FROM INJURIES Arnold Langkamp, age 19, a son of Mrs. Lizzie Langkamp, residing near Potosi met with accidental death on Monday afternoon while working on the Bert Schiffman farm. With the assistance of his cousin, Miss Schiffman, Arnold was loading hay in the barn and had brought in one load. While unloading the second load in the barn at one o'clock he was adjusting the hay fork when the trip rope broke. Arnold lost his balance and fell backwards striking the ground on his head and left shoulder. He picked himself up and staggered to the house where he went to bed. Dr. Mecum was called immediately and did what he could for the unfortunate young man but hemorrhage of the brain developed and he died at four o'clock after three hours of intense suffering. Bert Schiffman, the lads uncle, die about two weeks ago and he was helping his widowed aunt with the farm work. The young man was the sole support of his mother, his father, Peter Langkamp, having died some time ago. The funeral services were held from the home to St. Andrews church in Tennyson yesterday morning at ten o'clock under the auspices of the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin. The young man was also a member of the Benevolent society and the Young Peoples Society of St. Andrews church, the members of which attended the funeral in a body.
