She was born the second child of Otto and Elda Hoeverman Kohlmeyer on Sept. 28, 1910, in the town of Blooming Grove, Dane County. She grew to womanhood in Loganville, where she worked for 15 years in the local telephone exchange. After leaving the telephone company, she was occupied for a short time in River Forest, Ill. On Oct. 30, 1943, she was united in marriage with William A. Tank. This union was blessed with three children: a son, William (Pat), and two daughters, Elizabeth (Richard) Hillestad and Ellen (Edwin) White. She is survived by six grandchildren: Tricia (Paul) Walheim, Deanna (Gregg) Gochenaur, Will (Lisa) Tank, Derek (Kelli) Hillestad, Melissa White and Meghan White. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law: Marge Kohlmeyer and Margaret Rudolph; many dear nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, in 1974; her son, Bill, in 1997; three brothers: Fred (Mary), Herb (Marion) and O.G. Kohlmeyer; and by her sister: Bessie (Clarence) Pieper.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Prairie du Sac with Pastor Fred Rilling officiating. Burial will be in Black Hawk Cemetery beside her husband. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the service Sunday at the church. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, St. John’s Lutheran Church or the Good Samaritan Society of Lodi.

She later answered telephones for the Hammer-Hoof Funeral Home for over 20 years. She was a faithful member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church. Survivors include her sister, Viola Tank, Lodi; two sisters-in-law: Marion Kohlmeyer, Rice Lake, and Marjorie Kohlmeyer, Cary, Ill; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, on Dec. 2, 1980; her parents and three brothers, Frederick, Herbert and Otto Kohlmeyer. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Reedsburg with Pastor Amy Swanson officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery in Loganville. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the church. The Hoof Funeral Home is serving the family.
