Betty C. Griffin was born on June 10, 1927 in Belle Plaine, Ia. to Kirk and Marjorie (Kent) Griffin. She married Victor Carlson on December 19, 1948 in the Methodist Parsonage, Maquoketa, Iowa, he passed away on September 10, 1999.

She was a longtime homemaker, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and making candy.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children; LuAnn (Tom) Elkins, Lori (Jim) Reuter, Don M. Carlson, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a sister Joan (Dude) Galloway of Lost Nation.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Victor, and brothers Tom and Jack.

Darrell Wayne Reed was born on September 7, 1926 in Andrew, Iowa, to Ancho and Elda (Gnade) Reed. He grew up in Jackson County and served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II earning an honorable discharge. He married Margaret Helen Carlson on February 27, 1949, in Maquoketa, Iowa. Four children were born to this union, Rodney, Cheri, David, and Mark.

Darrell was a lifelong farmer in rural Maquoketa. He was a member of the Andrew AMVETS Post #62 and had been the recipient of the honor flight. He loved farming and horses.

Those left to honor his memory include his children, Rodney (Sally) Reed of Perth, Australia, Cheri Reed of Hiawatha, Iowa, David (Karen) Reed of Maquoketa, Iowa, and Mark (Laura) Reed of South St. Paul, Minnesota; 9 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Margaret Helen Reed on August 23, 2016, a brother Kenneth Reed, and sisters Phyllis Willey, Darlene Rimmer, and Leanna Angell.

Visitation will be held from 9 A.M. to 10:30 A.M., Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. A public graveside service and burial celebrating Darrell’s life will follow at 11 A.M., Saturday, April 29, 2023, at the Andew, Iowa Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded.
