On Sept. 3, 1938, she married Ervin Penner of Weatherford. They made their home West of Weatherford until 1952 when she and Ervin moved into Weatherford. They had one daughter, LaWana. Lucille worked for Owl Photo in Weatherford from 1960 to 1975. She enjoyed fishing, sewing, crocheting and "telling a good joke." She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren and taking care of her dog, "Sooner." She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Weatherford and the Red Hatters. She is survived by her daughter, LaWana Manos of Weatherford, Okla; one brother, C.J. Freeborn; three grandchildren, Jeff Behne and wife, Summer, of Guymon; Tate Behne and wife, Cindy, of Dallas; Jana Gibson and husband, Greg, of Weatherford, Texas. Six great-grandchildren, Skylar Behne, Haylee Behne, Braeden Gibson, Daxton Behne, Zane Behne and Kellen Gibson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin; her parents and a brother, Robert Freeborn. Services were held Thuesday, June 4, 2009, at 2 p.m. in "The Chapel" at Lockstone Funeral Home of Weatherford, Okla. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford, Okla. Memorials may be made to the Weatherford Pioneer Center and the Alterra Sterling House in Weatherford, Okla.

Robert S Freeborn Who Died In Australia In 1944 Brought Home for Reburial -
Corporal Robert S. Freeborn, 21, who died in 1944 while serving with the army in Australia has been returned home for reburial. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March ?? at the First Baptist church in Weatherford at 2:30 p m. Rev Clarence J Davis of Rocky and Rev Maurice A Cook pastor of the First Baptist church here will conduct the service. Special memorial services will be conducted at the Greenwood cemetery with the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion participating. Members of C Battery of the National Guard will also have a part in the ceremony. Corporal Freeborn, the son of Mr and Mrs Bufort L Freeborn of Weatherford, was born near Indianapolis. He attended Red Bock school and later Weatherford high school. While in school in Weatherford he participated in Junior high school football and basketball and was a member of the high school wrestling team. He was also an active member of the FFA chapter. He enlisted in the army air forces on January 4, 1942, and took his initial training at Stoppard Field, Texas. He was sent to Australia for additional training and saw action in New Guinea. While in New Guinea he developed Jungle fever and was sent back to Australia for treatment and rest. His death resulted from an automobile accident while on duty near Brisbane Australia on June 4 1944. He served with Headquarters Squadron 6th Air Force. Surviving him are his parents Mr and Mrs Bufort L. Freeborn of Weatherford, one sister, Mrs Ervin Fenner of Weatherford, one brother, C J Freeborn, who is attending school at Nashville, Tennessee. The body arrived in Clinton on March 17 and will remain at the Kem and Schneider funeral home until the service next Tuesday.

Born October 5, 1917, he was the son of the late Carl and Katie (nee Stoeven) Balgemann of Grant Park, Illinois. He married Florence Roeseler of Lockport in 1941 and moved to this area where he continued to live in his own home until his recent illness.Otto served in the United States Army during WWII from 1942 until 1945 in the 201st Anti Aircraft and 10th Mountain Division. He served in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theaters and received 4 Bronze Battle Stars. He was a member of the VFW Post #3180 and the American Legion of Akron. After returning from the war, he first worked at Friend Manufacturing in Gasport and then at Bell Aircraft in Niagara Falls as a turret lathe operator for over 30 years, until his retirement in 1981.Following Otto's retirement, he loved to help out at McCollum Farms doing any and all odd jobs that needed doing to help his daughter and her family. Having grown up on an Illinois farm, he enjoyed working outside, gardening and doing yard work. He was skilled at woodworking and cabinet making.Otto had a great love of music and was an accomplished accordion player. Beginning in the 1940's he played for round and square dances at local grange halls, fire companies, private parties, family gatherings and church functions. For a number of years he played weekly with a band at the Wolcottsville Inn and until several years ago, entertained at nursing homes and the Batavia VA Hospital. He was associated with many musicians over the years, the longest being with the late Jim Yates on banjo as "Jimmy and Otto." He last played with the "Over the Hill Gang" of Albion. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Lockport and previously belonged to St. Michael's Church of Wolcottsville.Otto leaves a very close family who all knew him well and loved him very much. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Florence (nee Roeseler) Balgemann; two children, daughter, Susanne (Gary) McCollum of Gasport, and son, Danny (Sherry) Balgemann of Canyon Lake, Texas; four grandchildren, David (Cindy) McCollum, Dale (Jane) McCollum, Barbara (Michael) Outten and Connie Soemann, all of Gasport; sixteen great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Elizabeth, Jessica, Amanda, Emily, Aaron and Aidan McCollum, Caldon and Christopher McCollum, Adam, Abram, Timothy, Sarah and Melissa Outten and Jeffrey and Stephen Soemann; five step-great grandchildren, Joseph Nolan, Kyle, Chelsee and Kristina Crowell and Jessica Outten. Otto is also survived by two dear sisters, Esther Diersen and Wilma Balgemann of Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Paul Balgemann of Illinois.Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main Street, Gasport, on Thursday from 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30 AM from the funeral home, with the Reverend Alan Bauch officiating. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery, Lockport, NY. Memorials appreciated to the VFW Post #3180, 35 Lewis Road, Akron, NY 14001, or to the Trinity Lutheran Church of Lockport.
